An amateur astronomer reported a fireball on Jupiter a few days ago. Sure enough, when footage was checked, here’s what they saw. Details at Space.com.

The first human to walk on the moon has taken one big step into the great beyond. Neil Armstrong, pilot and first to step off the LEM footpad with the immortal words captured above has passed away: [Read more…]
Not to be taken too seriously, but word is NASA has found some non human footprints somewhere in the solar system. Per usual, they’re covering it up! [Read more…]
Don’t worry, Mars Curiosity the rover is alive and well and on the verge of beginning the mission it was so ably designed to do! There’s every reason to expect Curiosity will perform brilliantly, and that’s good, because there’s nothing much slated for Mars after it. When Curiosity finally seizes up, likely frozen in place, starved for power and heat and mobility while examining an undisclosed ancient, dusty lakebed, and the mini sat network above stops talking to its creators, it is an end of sorts to our curiosity, until we do something about it: [Read more…]
NASA announced today it would dole out a billion dollars to three newspace firms in an effort to accelerate development of a man-rated spacecraft. And without further adieu ado, the winners are: [Read more…]
Flags left by Apollo astronauts forty years ago may not be waving, for there is no breeze on the moon. But they are still standing in place on all but one landing site, at least according to high res images snapped by the Lunar Reconnaissance Observer. Images and link below. [Read more…]
We’ve found a lot of strange exo-planets in the last two decades, hot Jupiter’s spiraling into their star like giant comets and super earths that could be covered in exotic oceans and ices hundreds of miles deep. Before it’s all over, Kepler may end up being the most famous name in all the Milky Way galaxy! Now the plucky telescope by the same name has found an alien system that looks a little more familiar in one key respect: [Read more…]
NASA has retasked the Odyssey orbiter to track the Mars Science Lab carrying the Curiosity, the next generation rover is charging its lithium ion batteries to final 100% capacity courtesy of the solar array on the MSL as we speak. There’s been some confusion on the exact date and time of the seven minutes of terror hope leading to Curiosity’s landing, the current 14 minute light-speed lag between earth and Mars doesn’t exactly help. Official landing times, live stream feeds, and press conference schedule below: [Read more…]
