Good to see the Sorites Paradox getting a run out I think this is one of the most useful tools in philosophy to show the problems with abstract ideas which sit on continua. (This is why species don’t ontic-ly exist, for example).

  2. Corbett Smyth says

Seriously sad to see the podcast come to an end. With the slowing of the updates I kinda assumed but still… Anyway, Thanks for the laughs and brain food. To critical thought (clink)!

  3. llewelly says

The ultimate foundation of “God is Good” is undefinable; it is like division by zero; an unbounded well of arbitrary illogic which can be abused to “prove” anything to those insufficiently wary or skillful to discover the division by zero.

  4. Rafael Cortijo says

Really sad to see my favourite podcast ever come to an end. I’m immensely grateful to you guys. Rest assured you’ve made a difference.

I think you were wrong about dwarfs (note the spelling). That hack Tolkien did butcher the spelling, which you echoed in your mis-pronunciation, but short dwarfs were not an invention of Tolkien. For example, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Wagner, when he wrote his Ring cycle based on the Norse myths, assumed that the dwarfs were shorter than the giants, etc.

Magnificent site. Plenty of helpful information here. I’m sending it to some pals ans additionally sharing in delicious. And of course, thanks in your effort!

  8. Zack Tacorin says

    Hey guys,

Well, it’s been wonderful listening to you. I consider myself a recovering Mromon. Not too long after realizing the Mormon Church’s truth claims were demonstrably false, I realized I could no longer maintain belief in any god, let alone the God of Abraham.

I really appreciate the information you presented. It was kind of like a continuing education program for World Religions and Philosophy. But, unlike a class, you guys brought the subjects to life with your banter and comradery. I’m really going to miss your podcast, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for other work you’ll be involved in.

  9. Ray says

Was so excited to see a new episode download to my phone after months of inactivity. Was then pretty crushed to hear the opening. Dick move. /s

In all seriousness, I can’t thank you enough for the growth I’ve experienced through your hard work and dedication. I refer to your arguments often in conversation, and even learned a new word, maximally. All the best with what comes next.

    A heartfelt thanks, -ray

PS: At least consider reuniting for an annual bitch session episode.

  10. says

It’s so sad to know that you guys are finished, but I’m so glad for all the good years you gave us. I started my journey into atheism about 15 years ago, and you guys were instrumental in helping me “grow up” in the second half of my atheist life. You will be sincerely missed.

(P.S. You should label your pics with your names! I don’t know which of you is which except for the Doctor-Professor because I was able to google him)

  11. Charles Beltman says

    Clayicus –
Their names arranged like their Brady Bunch squares:

    Jeremy Dave
    Justin Luke

  12. Keiren says

Oh mannnnnnnnn… I discovered you guys just in time for the LAST episode. So I’m currently inhaling all the archives. This is the most amazing podcast ever. Weighty, without being incomprehensible. Critical without being arrogant. Makes me laugh and think. And now I know it will make me cry when I get to the end. It’s like watching Titanic. Except tolerable.

  13. Tyler H. says

Wow, this is like listening to a good friend say goodbye over the phone. I discovered you guys two years ago and have enjoyed every episode! It is good to know you guys are doing well, and I am looking forward to/hoping for more from you guys!

  14. Grif says

Did doubtcast.org go down? I can’t access this episode, which is a shame because I wanted to hear the Argument from Holiness again.

  15. kittensaretasty says

Second wondering what happened to the episodes. I was listening back through some of the old ones after the show ended. Seems like they’re all gone. I wonder if they decided to stop hosting them?

  16. says

Guys what the hell? You end the show and then get rid of the site? You realise ALL THE PODCAST SERVICES USED THAT FEED

Cant get any episodes of your podcast on itunes or any of the other podcast sites that used that feed

Guys you cant just quit and then make it that we cant even listen to old epsiodes! Thats just mean, at least let us go back and listen to episodes we might have missed or want to relisten to

If you were going to let the website lapse at least make a backup and upload it somewhere else! I was a good chunk into the early episodes when itunes told me none of the episodes were available, then trying to get it on the website showed me you hadnt paid for the domain and it lapsed, then i tried other poscast services And realised they ALL used the feed from the doubtcast website

  17. magetoo says

Well, I held out for three months, but for the Solstice I decided it was time to put in the earbuds and go for a long walk in the woods. I’m sad to see you go, but hope to see you guys around.

It was always the *chemistry* you guys had that made the podcast so enjoyable, so here’s hoping you get together again as a group at some point.

  18. Rikki says

Great. Now I have to download old episodes so I can hear the words Teen Pop Sensation Justin Schieber. This is BS.
