I’m flying away again, off to Deutschland. So tired already. But I’ll be back on Dienstag to stay home for a while!
There has been some talk of a meetup on Donnerstag; I’m game. I get in that morning and have the day free, so whatever people work out in the comments is fine.
prae says
Aww, that’s not happening anywhere near Munich, is it?

Is this the naked one?

Sounds like it just could be. Have fun.

Meal-Ticket doesn’t quite translate the same way in a British context (not sure about American).

Frohes Schaffen!
Unfortunately Germany is big enough for me to not have a chance to attend and I have work to do anyway so I couls not even if it were somewhere close :(.

Need a new racism post!
Other than that, have a safe flight and enjoy Germany! I won’t be there, but I’m pretty sure Giliell will be extending greetings on my behalf.
One of these times when you’re on this continent, I’ll make sure my schedule agrees with yours.
Giliell, professional cynic -Ilk- says
Hehe, I’ll arrive in Cologne around noon.
REally looking forward to it.

Safe travels Herr Professor! I vaguely remember you praising the Deutsche Bahn railway last time you visited (cheap!? trains on time!?) which seemed weird to me, because my impression of DB is that it is overpriced and hardly ever on time. Maybe I’m just unlucky..
Unfortunately, the train conductors’ union went on strike, up to 85% of train connections won’t be serviced for the unforseeable future. Something you (and everyone attending in Cologne) should take into consideration when making travel arrangements!
crys says
Woop! I live in Bonn at the moment, so I bought my ticket to the convention as soon as I found out about it. If there is a meetup I’d love to be there!

Mittwoch is a really cool name for Wednesday, as all it means is basically “middle of the week”. :-)
Sigh. For a moment, I toyed with the idea of actually attending, but I’ve got work this weekend.

Unfortunately, it expresses great disrespect for Wotan.

I’ll show up for lunch tomorrow

Happy meetings, all who get to attend them!

Verdammtes Exkrement, why always Cologne. Even Frankfurt would be at least consider-able.
Well, no alternative than to form a regional group … Atheists and Humanists of Frankonia United, Calm and Keen.

@11 Yes, we wouldn’t want to be disrespectful towards gods, now would we? Heh.
slithey tove (twas brillig (stevem)) says
Mittwoch, better than “hump day”, eh?

Re DB:
Maybe PZ said that in comparison to USAnian outdated trains, that are overpriced, slow and rarely on time (and rarely connect relevant destinations). ALL Europ trans are better than Murican trains.

Auf Wiedersehen, PZ safe trip. Cheerio!

I would have love to be thee; unfortunately I’m still stuck with a min wage part time job, welfare, and my financial improvement I’ve been waiting for these last months still isn’t worked out. Anyway, have a great time and enjoy.
David Marjanović says
DB is hardly ever on time, but almost always within 10 min of it. In the US, freight trains have the right of way, so passenger trains are routinely delayed by such things as three hours.
DB is expensive, though; and like elsewhere in western Europe, there are only full-priced and special extremely cheap tickets, with nothing in between. (You can get the cheap ones if you book several months in advance, they tie you to a particular train or sequence of trains, and are not refundable or anything.)
