Why? So we can “learn” that the hierarchy at an ultra- conservative, openly misogynist, church has a hideous history of sexually abusing women and girls (and probably boys and men too) and covering it up for decades?

You guys, it’s so weird! I feel like I could have written this exact story, word for word, without seeing anything more than the headline.

Yeah, I must be psychic or something. ‘CUZ THAT’S THE ONLY EXPLANATION THAT MAKES ANY SENSE AMIRITE.

Right now people are obsessing over Catholics and sexual abuse, but the Baptists are just as horrible. And the “Independent” churches and megachurches. And the fundagelical sects. In all the Abrahamic religions, women and children are just things to be used, and normal sexual activities are highly policed. The Amish and Mennonite communities (anabaptists) are also rife with physical and sexual abuse of women and children.

The more fundamentalist the religion, the higher the chance of sexual and physical abuse–religious home is one of the top warning signs for abuse (alcohol and drug abuse is another).

Why does this surprise anyone?!?!? Their own BigBook o’BS FairyTales says it is OK to have under age sex slaves! ANd women are the source of all that is bad and have no real value. And their precious cheesus never said anything different.

Huh? Did some reporter just wake up from a coma and finish a story from before they were hospitalized? I mean, this was news… when it was first reported decades ago.
