And speaking of going places and doing things – Veronica Abbass at Canadian Atheist has a post about what people are looking forward to at Eschaton in Ottawa next month. We’re all looking forward to meeting each other, is what it boils down to.
I hope there’s plenty of cat food.
Make sure you try it with cheese curds and gravy. It’s called pousstine in the local vernacular, but if you just pantomime cleaning your whiskers, you’ll be understood by the locals.
Oh, poutine! I do want to try that, once in my life. I think by “once” I probably mean one small bite…
I suppose Russell, Zeno and Ampersand can spare some.
You’ll be cheap to feed, anyway.
Mouse flavor? Blech! Canadian cats deserve moose flavor cat food.
Cat food and one small bite of poutine; yes, very cheap.
On a more serious note, for the history fans out there, the Catnadian Mewseum of Civilisation is just across the river from the Parliament buildings. If you have at least a half-day to spare, check it out. If human history isn’t so much your thing, the Catnadian Mewseum of Nature is pretty mice too.
It’s going to be in the 80s in LA the next few days. Glarbl.
Haven’t you heard brownian its being changed to the Catnadian Mewseum of History 😛 . I still have trouble in the CMoN since they did all their reconstruction changed all my beloved childhood exhibits and plastered over the walls on the inside :(. Its still nice just not the same….
As the the event I might manage to say hai and I like your blog before scurrying off to examine a potted plant in the corner or the room…
For other people visiting my lovely city, the national gallery is on this side of the river across from the museum of civ/his.
Ah, the 80s. I remember them fondly. Give Reagan a few choice words should you get the chance.
Eww, Friskies? Everyone knows Fancy Feast is the best.
(Lol, I just caught the “mouse-flavored” :))
Voice of Fire! Voice of Fire!
It is a grand gallery.
michael d – well I hope you don’t scurry off. Stick around and shmooze instead.
michaeld, just bring a laser pointer to distract her and you’ll be purrfectly safe.
@6: As it happens, the Museum of Nature is just around the corner from the hotel — and we’re having a bit party there with a talk by PZ on the Saturday evening, with the Dino gallery open.
Argh, biG party, BIG.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, too.
Well, except those I’ve already met. Those, I’m looking forward to re-meeting, I guess Or something.
Can I, umm, pass on the cat food and poutine menu, though? I just can’t say I miss the university student experience quite so keenly that I’m seeking to relive it quite so vividly.
@13 aletha
I don’t have a laser pointer but I do have a bunch of cat nip that’s probably as distracting?
This is turning into a gourmet blog. Yum!
