Sultan of Brunei gung ho on stoning to death for adultery

Yes that’s right – it’s not some horrible joke.

The Sultan of Brunei introduced tough Sharia-law punishments on Tuesday including death by stoning for crimes such as adultery, hailing what he called a “historic” step toward Islamic orthodoxy for his country.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah — one of the world’s wealthiest men — said a new Sharia Penal Code in the works for years was officially introduced on Tuesday in the tiny, oil-flush sultanate and would be phased in beginning in six months.

Based on individual cases, punishments could include stoning to death for adultery, severing of limbs for theft, and flogging for violations ranging from abortion to alcohol consumption, according to a copy of the code.

The code applies only to Muslims.

“By the grace of Allah, with the coming into effect of this legislation, our duty to Allah is therefore being fulfilled,” the sultan, 67, said in a speech.

Fuck Allah. Fuck you. Fuck everyone who perpetrates this evil punitive murderous vengeful shit.

Well, I’m sure the new penal code doesn’t include a penalty for leaving Islam then. /something-beyond-snark

eh, according to wikipedia (apostacy in islam):

The majority of Muslim scholars hold to the traditional view that apostasy is punishable by death or imprisonment until repentance, at least for adult men of sound mind.

and it really doesn’t get any better when you read the definitions of apostasy used:

Ophelia, did you just say Allah? I’m sure that’s not allowed either…

No, don’t fuck him- he’d take that as proof that you’re an adulterer. Throw a rock at him instead.

    @ brianpansky:

Yes, I’m aware of that. Hence my beyond-snark tag.

One thing about Brunei. While there is a parliament, more or less, the Sultan rules by “emergency decrees” and has since the failed Brunei Revolt of 1962.

Or failing to adopt your parents’ beliefs in the first place…

Will the new code apply to the Sultan’s playboy brother?

I suppose his ex-wife (the former second wife, Princess Mariam) should be grateful she was only divorced, after being caught in flagrante …

The sultan has always been a lasvicious old goat, the pudgy crown prince pays for the company of aging blonde bombshells (think pamela anderson) and the playboy brother not only had a harem of kuffaric white women, but also embezzled 15 billion dollars while he was finance minister…

I would be a mite less antagonistic to sharia if that entire family of parasites was the first to be face amputations and stonings!

What does the Sultan’s long-time good buddy Oliver North say about this?

    From Wikipedia:

The Sultan married his current consort, Pengiran Anak Saleha, later the Raja Isteri, in 1965. His former second wife, Hajah Mariam (the former Pengiran Isteri), was a former stewardess for the national carrier, Royal Brunei Airlines. He divorced her in 2003, stripping her of all her royal titles. In August 2005 her place was taken by a former Malaysian TV3 presenter, Azrinaz Mazhar Hakim, who is 33 years younger than the Sultan. They divorced in 2010, and as with Hajah Mariam, the Sultan stripped her of all titles, honours, and monthly allowance. The divorce was announced on Radio Television Brunei by the Grand Chamberlain.[5]

I’m sure none of those wives and mistresses were overlapping. None. 5 sons and 7 daughters. Because: do as I say, not as I do.

And, of course, the sultans of Brunei have never done anything remotely resembling theft or un-islamic activity, like tragicomic expenditures of obscene wealth in the UK, attempting to leg-hump the british aristocracy. Feh.

The first and second wife (Hajah Mariam) certainly overlapped. (I used to live and work in Brunei …) I knew he’d married a third wife, but didn’t realise he’d divorced her as well!

May the Sultan be perpetually stoned!
