Zimmerman will be charged in Martin shooting

This just in, George Zimmerman will reportedly be charged in the death of Trayvon Martin:

(Miami Herald) — Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey is expected to charge — as early as today — neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, various media outlets, citing anonymous sources, are reporting. Corey will make an announcement on the case at 6 p.m. Wednesday, her office confirmed. The word came shortly after Trayvon’s parents attended a national conference in Washington, D.C. led by Rev. Al Sharpton. They expressed fear that people will react to the news with violence and urged calm.

George Zimmerman has apparently flipped out and could be facing arrest soon

Moments ago a Florida prosecutor said she would make a significant announcement in a case that sounds like the Trayvon-Zimmerman deal in the next 72 hours. It’s possible an arrest warrant could be issued and/or announced at that time. But George Zimmerman, the 28 year-old man who ignited a firestorm after he shot and killed 17 year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, FL., last month, has apparently wigged out. He’s reportedly been behaving so erratically over the last two days, that his lawyers had to hold a press conference announcing they have no idea what’s going on with him, and therefore cannot be said to represent him in any practical way: [Read more…]

Paul Ryan really is an incredible piece of work

Paul Ryan was informed by The Catholic Magisterium. That’s right. The supposedly buff guy who seems more in the dark about anaerobic training than the muscles he brags about confusing, made up the catfood-for-grandma budget he likes to wave around proudly guided by his faith (The numbers used on the other hand may have come from a random player tripping on mescaline while questing through Kalimdor): [Read more…]

The immaculate deception

Not be left behind by Mittens, Mitch McConnell lent his gravitas to the endless series of GOP lies that now makes up the religious-right conservative movement these days, with this comedy styling on the conservative crusade against women:

Talk about a manufactured issue. There is no issue. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Kelly Ayotte from New Hampshire and Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe from Maine I think would be the first to say — and Lisa Murkowski from Alaska — ‘we don’t see any evidence of this.’

After I picked myself off the floor following a debilitating laughing attack, my colleagues and I at Daily Kos collected the statements below from those very female lawmakers names above for McConnell’s edification. [Read more…]

Let me tell you just how bad off our manned space program is right now

SpaceX Dragon spacecraft shown in a hypothetial dock with the ISS. The next test of this system is scheduled for 30 April

That was my opening line at a small talk over the weekend, my warmer upper, it’s not exactly a spine tingler, but it’s the truth. The only manned ground to orbit launch capacity on earth exist in Rsocosmos, the dregs of the Russian manned program. Because of management missteps, congressional malfeasance, a world-wide recession and austerity programs in the few space faring countries left standing, we as a species, ladies and gentlemen, are about one single launch/operational/reentry disaster away from having no manned capability at all, while a luxury free-fall hotel and science station weighing in at almost a million pounds whizzes around empty of science and man until it burns into a briefly spectacular, $100 billion high-altitude fireworks show. Right now much of our hope hinges on this event: [Read more…]
