When I lived in Arizona, we always looked forward to tarantula mating season. Put one on my head, or my shoulder, walk into the visitor center, and fun ensues (until my dad, or one of the other rangers came out and scolded us for bothering the wildlife). Never knew about those hairs. I got bitten a few times (a sweat bee sting hurts less), but never had the itchies from the hairs.
