Now winguts want Komen to denounce biotech-science

It’s not enough that winguts demanded, and Komen for the Cure folded, to demands the charity sever its long-standing relationship with Planned Parenthood. Mow wingnuts are insisting the org denounce stem cell research too:

(RightWingWatch) — Lou Engle’s Bound4Life, which pushed LifeWay bookstores to stop selling Komen’s “Pink Bible,” commended Komen but like Perkins, asked the group to go even farther to please the far-right by abandoning their support of stem cell research. The group gloated that while “Komen says these public criticisms are not a factor in their choice to stop funding Planned Parenthood, it’s hard to believe that the pressure didn’t impact the decision.

Giving into bullies is a very bad idea. for anyone. Bullies are never satisfied, they always want more, and they’re not interested in being friends.

Fuck Komen. I sent a donation directly to Planned Parenthood last night. These people are really starting to piss me off.

“Those who pay Danegeld will never get rid of the Dane”.

It’s not just you. They’ve almost recovered the entire amount that they would’ve gotten from Komen already.

@tubi, sqlrob – fantastic to hear. I threw another donation to PP today because of this news, and I’m glad others are doing so.

    Kipling always said it best:

    And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray,
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say:

“We never pay any one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost,
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost!”

Somewhere today I read that Susan G. Komen only spends around 20% of their budget on research. The whole pink thing has been making money for someone, but they don’t seem to be in the business of finding a cure.

Oh and. SGK was founded by a Republican and the new VP appears to be a stridently pro-choice Republican. The decision to discontinue relations with PP had nothing to do with bowing to the power of bullies and everything to do with following the dictates of the executives.

If you want to make a gesture, donating to PP is a good choice, but please, consider avoiding all that pink corporate crap. Remember, don’t feed the pink trolls.

    Re minxatlarge @ #6

I think Mr. minxatlarge means stridently anti-choice Rethuglican.
