Imagine living in Wuppertal and encountering this:
Bild reports that these guys are “patrolling” in central Wuppertal. The chief of police, Birgitta Radermacher, on the other hand says no they’re not, because policing is for the state, not roving bands of intimidators. (Ok I made up that last clause, but she implied it.) Some of the “Sharia police” were arrested Wednesday evening.
Kevin Kehres says
Maybe we can get them to meet the guys “volunteering” to patrol the border who caught the bat scientists.
What possibly could go wrong? Two different “law enforcement” volunteer groups have to have a lot in common, amiright?

To be fair, this is the Bild, which is an ugly ugly tabloid rag. Kinda like The Sun.

So if I go to Germany and order a vest with some phrase in English on it, I can make Germans do whatever i want? Cool!
I shall be the Hokey Pokey Police!
Everybody now, put your right foot in … Hans, I’m not seeing your right foot!

Why, in Germany, are the vests in English?

Der Spiegel and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung have pretty much the same story. The people doing this are referred to as “Salafisten”, which they describe as a radical Islamist group. According to the FAZ article, the group has roughly 1800 adherents in the province (Germany is divided into something like 10-15 “Laender”, which I translate as “province”)
The FAZ story also mentions that the same thing has been going on in London for over a year now.

Me, @6:
Just speculating, but if their spiritual comrades in London supplied the vests, it would explain why they’re in English.

As some self-proclaimed London sharia police were recently imprisoned, the vests may have been surplus to requirements there.

This happens in France and Belgium as well.
