Ah. I had not made myself familiar with that board before, but it feels like a pegboard just hit me over the forehead. And not in a soothing way. So let me go hit it with a pillow instead.

Still some problem with that link. The first time I tried to access it I got the same message as NateHevens. The second time I got this:

“You have been permanently banned from this board.

Please contact the Board Administrator for more information.

A ban has been issued on your IP address.”

The link to “Board Administrator” sends an email to “forums@atheismplus.com”, which returns an “Address rejected” failure message.

Not sure if this is a mistake or the result of an attack on the board?

I like the idea of Atheism+, but I found that the board you linked to was not what I would think of as best representative of that philosophy. Especially with the older members of the board who have posted longest and seem to be able to get away with some pretty heinous stuff simply because they were part of the club.

    dense . . . yeah

On my brief encounter with the site, the impression gave me (apart from the pegboard kind, cf above) was that it might be altogether a spoof, kind of like those false twitter accounts etc. But I did not feel inclined to dig very deep.

Yeah – hard to read through all that stuff. I’m intrigued that one moron posting there thinks that OB is ome kind of colonialist oppressor scorning the brave al Shabab freedom fighters who are only protesting western imperialism by murdering africans who were far more the victims of that imperialism than the arabs ever were. Truly an odd perspective.

They have good a good glossary, but are very poor on policing their moderators and longest running posters.

Indeed they even have a thread titled “The moderators, are capricious, biased, etc . . ” where they expect people to go to lodge complaints.

The sarcasm involved in the very thread title itself will tell you exactly how little they are really interested in policing their own.

So, what’s the issue? A couple of people at the forum disagreed with something you posted and brought it up, some of the rest of us (including me) disagreed with THEM, and we had a discussion.

Why do you care? And why tar the whole group with the words of a couple of members, when the group as a whole has no agreement on the matter?

I believe the issue is that your site might as well be a subreddit of misogyny and liars are us.

Perhaps because your whole group does act like that. Especially you and your moderation team. I’ve seen it very clearly.

Ahh, I see. ysoldeangelique must be Quontir, a former poster who left many months ago after pulling some truly shady shit, like editing a post after people responded to it to remove the thing that people were objecting to, and then claiming that he or she had never said the thing in the first place. Quontir/ysoldeangelique subsequently screamed persecution when handed a temporary ban for this behavior, and has been on a tear to have all of us moderators “censured” somehow, ever since.

The posts above are not reasoned criticism, but the result of an obsessive grudge. I’m reminded of the Slymepit for some reason.
