Because Indiana is just THAT afraid of the gays

Having a law making gay marriage illegal wasn’t enough for Republicans from Indiana. Now a measure to add a Constitutional amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman has advanced out of a House committee. Because, you know, they just want to make sure it’s super duper illegal for those homosexuals to marry.

Blargh.

The name of the game is persistance. As long as good people never give up, hatred and bigotry flater and fail, even if it does take 200 years.

well, they are scared, more and more states are at least making civil unions legal.and that worries the poor little bigots.so if they amend constitutions they think it makes things harder on the pro gay crowd.when all it does is forestall the inevitable.

I’m just glad that Indiana has solved unemployment and healthcare and budget shortfalls and education issues and all the other real issues that states have to deal with, so they have time to deal with things like gay marriage.

This is because they know they are losing. Full civil rights for gay Americans are coming, but they’re trying to build bulwarks that can’t be overcome in twenty years when the vast majority of Americans realize what the right thing to do is.

Oddly I find that them trying to ban civil unions or any recognition of homosexual couples a good thing. The Supreme Court has already ruled that marriage is a fundamental human right (Loving vs Virginia), and that taking away other avenues of redress is a violation of the constitution in Romer v Evans. In essence, they are pushing an amendment that is likely to be overturned. Of course it would be even better if they didn’t pass anything at all.

This is just a blatant play for votes used by politicians to allow them to get extra play out of the homosexual debate to distract their constituency from their complete ineptitude at all of the things that they are supposed to be doing, like fixing our economy.Apparently they have no time to deal with stuff that matters, they have to go tell some people to stop being so gay.

If Indiana wants me to ever move back there, crap like this needs to stop right now. Ugh. We should be putting people back to work, not back to shame and ignorance.

Sometimes I think that the worth of a cause is confirmed by the opposition to it. We still don’t have the Equal Rights Amendment guaranteeing equal rights for women. Somehow, gay marriage and equality for women seriously threaten the patriarchy.

Life partnership is the most private of free associations. It’s funny and a bit sad that the same people that want government to regulate/define it are the same people that claim to “honor the Constitution.” Social conservative authoritarians are by nature, duplicitous social engineers.

Why is the Gobermint all up in my business. I thought the Tea Party was trying to make it smaller and less intrusive. Im going to start a new movement called the FEA Party. F’d Enough Already. Get government out of the bodies of women and the anuses of Men (and women). ‘Stop US Involvement in North America!!!’

yeah! yeah! how dare them damn gays demand the right get married on the spur of the moment in a drunken fugue somewhere in vegas, wake up with a hooker who is now the missus (or mister, let’s be fair, women can be drunken tramps who pay for sex too), and then get divorced again inside twenty four hours! How dare them damn gays think they have the right to collect three divorces like a good red-blooded true american? If we let them damn gays marry, why, they’ll ruin the fine institution we call matrimony! goddamn!
