ComSec under investigation for hit and run felony in California

Update: Bryson reportedly suffered a seizure. Which surely gets him off the hook felony wise.

This is interesting, in a tragic way. Secretary of Commerce John Bryson has been cited in a felony hit-and-run after causing two or more accidents:

(CBS News) — According to the written statement by the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, Bryson was behind the wheel of a Lexus which rear-ended another vehicle waiting for a train to pass in the city of San Gabriel at about five in the evening. The statement says Bryson spoke with the three males in the other car, then drove away, hitting their Buick again in the process.

Bryson was then “found alone and unconscious behind the wheel of his vehicle,” after allegedly causing another accident in the neighboring city of Rosemead.

Police say that while Bryson has now been formally cited in the hit-and-run, it will be up to the District Attorney’s office to decide whether formal criminal charges should be filed.

It sounds like he was either blacked-out drunk or has a serious medical issue. Which means he’s probably fucked and will soon choose to spend more time with his family … Not sure if an accident where you chat with the other party counts as a hit and run though.

He’s lucky no one was seriously hurt. Yeah, he’ll be wanting to spend more time with his family real soon.

Coming up on Fox: Is Obama promoting drunk driving?

The reports I’ve heard said that he was tested for alcohol, and came back clean.

My first thought, given his age, would be a stroke. While most people associate strokes with paralysis and speech problems, everything depends on where they occur and how much damage they cause. Strokes do not, themselves, cause pain — there are no nerve endings in the brain — and so are detectable only if there is overt damage. A small stroke affecting hand-eye coordination or spacial perception….

We’ll have to wait until the medical tests have been released.

@d cwilson #1 – I kind of wish, just for entertainment value, that we had some kind of left-wing version of Breitbart. I can already see conspiracy theories about how Bryson was drugged by Romney agents in the hopes that something like this would happen to embarass the president and damage his chances at re-election.

Why was he charged with hit-and-run? Is that just a formality until they can figure out what happened?

I’m not sure about the law in California, but in Nevada, hitting someone or something with your vehicle and then leaving the scene of the accident before the cops get there to investigate is a hit and run violation. It depends on the circumstances of course, as to whether you’ll get arrested or not.

So, he’s having seizures, and thinks it would be a good idea to keep driving? One might think that hitting the first car the first time would be a hint.

I have never had a stroke or seizure (that I know of), F, but as I understand it, they can screw up your cognitive abilities in lots of “fun” and exciting ways. So I could believe he didn’t understand he shouldn’t be driving, or did but was unable to control himself. If that’s what happened.

Don’t read the comments on the CBS news article in the update if you value your sanity. It’s all an Obama plot, or something.
