Rush Limbaugh doesn’t understand how birth control works

Rachel Maddow had a great segment last night on Limbaugh’s now infamous tirade. The shock-jock utilized his selective ignorance to mislead listeners with comments like these:

(SentinalSource) — This week Limbaugh said on his show that Fluke “wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex.”

After calling Sandra Fluke a slut and prostitute who should post her most intimate moments on youTube for horny old men to watch, Rush then doubled down the very next day using the same duplicity:

(Warning Rush Link) — He described her testimony from his perspective. “So the woman comes forth with this frankly hilarious claim that she’s having so much sex — and her buddies with her– that she can’t afford it,” Limbaugh continued. “And not one person says, did you ever think about maybe backing off the amount of sex that you have?”

Rush has had four childless marriages, so it’s fair to assume he knows how the pill works. But for any of his poor readers unaware of basic medicine, women take a dose regularly, whether it’s a monthly crystal injected under their skin or a daily pill, regardless of “how much sex they have.” Women who are on prescribed birth control don’t take a pill every time they have sex, the dose is the same whether they have sex once a month or once an hour or never. Perhaps Rush is thinking of condemns condoms used by men which are indeed a pay to play form of birth control. But more likely it made for a better two minute hate, so he slipped in a little white lie and repeated it the next day.

What Rush has singlehandedly done is torn away the last shred of cover and lay bare the facade, specifically, that this was a high falutin debate between the religious freedom of institutions or CEOs vs. the Constitutional rights of workers to be protected from the wacky or financially expedient religious beliefs of their employer. It’s pretty clear what this is really about: the religious right despises sex, when women do it, and want them punished for that sinful act with humiliation, STDs, and unwanted pregnancy. It’s not a secret, hell there are people in this nation who want to bring back the practice of stoning women to death for such things. This has always been crystal clear and any purported media hack or pundit who does not  now admit it is part of the problem.

I agree with you Mr. Andrew.

What i have noticed is that if you listen long enough, they (being conservatives) give up the game on every major social issue given enough time and a long enough lead rope.

    It’s always the same.

Or maybe, literally as well as figuratively, he has no balls.

Perhaps Rush is thinking of condemns used by men . . .

Clearly Rush is all about the condemnation, but I think in this instance you mean “condoms”.

They also do not understand how insurance works. Actually insurance is the best for of socialism- everyone pays into the program and people benefit according to their needs….. Also more expensive things like babies are a burden on everyone on the insurance. So the “slut” who gets pregnant is actually punishing everyone else. Better everyone pays for her sex than her “folly”. Though honestly what an a***hole that bag of wind is.

The thing is, it’s well known that Limbaugh uses viagra. Assuming his medical insurance pays for it, we’re “paying him to have sex” too. He’s just as much of a whore, by his own “logic”, as he paints Ms. Fluke to be.

I wonder if there’s a way to get enough people on board to flood Rush’s phones and keep asking him to explain these things until he stops taking calls or has an aneurysm. I think we’d need a few hundred to keep the odds in our favor. We can call it “Sooper Seekrit Meeshin: Hush Rush”
