    I bought a house in the country that had been unoccupied for many years and it was infested with these guys. Cellar spiders. Hundreds of them. Curiously there were no other spiders present. Or any other bugs for that matter. I think these cellar spiders kept the house clear of all competing arachnids, insects, myriapods, and anything else they could catch in their webs. They may have been eating each other.

    Those are the dominant type of spiders in my basement. They don’t keep everything else out, though – there are centipedes in the summer and some other spiders as well.
