long after elno mork ducked from being the public face of it, his pet project within the us gov kept on – only just now coming to an official end. what have they been doing? well, these unvetted corporate goons with neo-nazi sympathies could read every single american’s social security number and personal details for well over a year, so what can’t they do now? i’m waiting for the other foot to drop on that. on the other hand, so many people’s ssns have already been compromised by data breaches that maybe this footfall will sound like a whisper.
when i heard the head corpo-nazi was stepping down, my first thought was this – what about his employees? sure enough, the meme agency quietly persisted well after that, with full access to just about every part of the us gov, particularly via the dept of the treasury. we handed our country to a clown car of thieves and goose-stepping theofascists because shitler spoke to the most reactive bits of our limbic systems bigly. as we’ve been seeing for a year and a half now, nothing can come from this except clownshit, nazishit, and spray-tan-brazen thievery.
what will be the imelda marcos shoes to make shitlerites finally realize they got burned? or is there literally nothing that will serve? nothing at all? perhaps more importantly, given the numbers, is there anything that can help non-voting moderates connect their inaction with these consequences? or will they persist in feeling blameless because they didn’t personally give it the thumbs up?
what of the chaos agents around the world who worked day and night to fill social media with propaganda to make this happen? what would it take for people in those countries to realize they’ve significantly increased their own odds of catching a nuke (still unlikely, #nodoomer) or dying from global warming (much more likely so #nodoomer if ya take care of yourselves my peoples)? for them to start caring about fucking anything?
like abe (#noshinzo) oceanoxia, i can’t help but see everything connected to everything. makes it hard to write a sentence without asides. in light of this news blip, i’m feelin that tonite and not loving it. still, i’ve got things to do, and i’m still at it…

Abe shadow banned me.
The answer is no, there is literally nothing that will serve to wake them up. They’re well aware of what pisses them off, that they are the victims, but they can’t apply the blame to their Golden Pig any more than he will accept it.

Was just watching Jordan Klepper talking to magats. One guy wanted to know where Obama was on 9/11, complaining that he was always on vacation. Asked if there was anything that could convince her that Obama was a citizen, one woman suggested if only there were people who were there when he was born who could confirm it – but not his mother since she was biased. When Klepper turned that logic back on her about Trump, she seemed genuinely baffled that his mother could possibly have any reason to lie.
.
I’ve seen it time and time again how they cite their criteria for hating [fill in the blank with the demon of the day], but can not or will not apply those same rules to their Pig God. I guess it’s the same mind set they have for their other god, who can murder nearly the entire population and remain holy and perfect.
.
So no, 99% of the magats are a lost cause. I don’t know about the “independents” (which is mostly people who don’t want to admit they either don’t care enough to pick a side on any issue or that they’re secretly Republicans). Maybe when gas hits $15 a gallon and ground beef is $25 a pound they’ll see the light.

On a slightly related note, I just got a letter from the IRS telling me I had 30 days to give them my banking info because they were unable to direct deposit my refund (if I don’t they’ll be forced to send me a check in a month or so). Since I wasn’t due a refund and had paid what I owed with a check, I think I’ll just wait and see if they send me money.
.
This was not a scam letter (in the traditional use of the word). Over the last couple months, the IRS has mass mailed this letter to taxpayers whether they’re still owed refunds or not. Waste, certainly. Fraud? I’m not sure. The IRS already has all my banking info, don’t they? Providing that when e-filing is just to tell them what account you want a refund deposited to. Even so, it still feels like some doge boys are after something else, even if I don’t know what that is, given all the info they already have on everyone.
jm – the price of being yourself, sometimes.
ridana – all so grim… hey i recognize that letter. haven’t gotten it myself but spoke with someone who had.
some of this stuff is just foolery tho. social security was going to insist nobody get paper checks anymore, no excuses, and as part of that a bunch of people were sent letters inviting them to enroll in direct express – a card run by a bank contracting with the gov to serve people without the usual credit checks and all. but the letter included a link to a website that doesn’t work, specifically with social security payments. somebody’d enroll and get a letter from the treasury three weeks later saying “enrollment didn’t work, plz contact the agency that is sending you payments.”
it wasn’t a scam, just a result of corporate “move fast break things” being used in social services. not that there aren’t scams or corrupt motivations. there are very good reasons to not want to send payments by a paper check in the mail, but might this whole direct deposit requirement have also been a result of the bank that backs direct express lacing a tiny palm with silver?
@2 Ridana — Interesting note about the IRS. My wife and I each received a letter from them last week (the same letter for each of us) stating that a review of our 2020 return showed we underpaid by 50 cents but since it was such a small amount, no need to pay anything at this time. Uhh thanks, I guess? Strange.
Ridana, cynicism is fine, adding pragmatics is better.
Um. I take you at your word, but I’d seek to know how much was the refund, before proceeding to ignore that. You never know!
I mean, the implication of being unable to direct deposit [your] refund surely is that there is more than nothing to deposit.
more than 50 cents if denny’s experience is relevant, heh
