So…this too is “spin” for “political purposes,” yes? Or not.

“What’s so wrong about hating? Its just evolution, and how their chemicals react to such things.” Are you really that stupid, or pretending?
Richard Dawkins @RichardDawkins May 24
Sorry, it seems my sarcasm needs spelling out. It’s usually aimed at Western liberals who patronisingly excuse atrocities as “their culture”

What is especially depressing is that the demand comes from STUDENTS. http://bit.ly/1jC25ge Pathetic, brainwashed little twerps.
Demand for Iranian actress to be flogged, because formally kissed on cheek by President of Cannes festival http://bit.ly/1jC25ge
It’s all so frightfully political! How cruel that is!
Or is it? I haven’t seen anything from Zara or Hale saying it is.
Why is that?
H/t for the idea to Michael Nam.
throwaway says
If he truly felt they were brainwashed, then why the “pathetic … little twerps”? It seems ‘brainwashed’ means “they’ve come to different realizations from me” based on the culture they’ve been brought up in. But then that would, I guess to him, be a slippery slope toward liberalized relativism.

It’s the Dawkins Difference(c).

Funny you should mention it, throwaway – I started a postscript saying “don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with these tweets” – but then looked at them again to make sure and didn’t like that bit so deleted the PS.

“For me, not for thee.” has been a cornerstone of human intercourse for, like, ever.
More’s the pity.

It involved OTHER PEOPLE. When it hits too close to home, suddenly it is different.
Kevin Kehres says
Ah, but you see, that’s global. Because it’s the job of pasty-faced Englishmen to tell brown people what to think.
Tabby Lavalamp says
Of course it’s different! Feminism isn’t involved, and it’s the irrational hatred of feminism that’s driving this need to diminish a murderer’s overt misogyny.
theoreticalgrrrl says
I don’t understand the problem with what Dawkins is saying.
Brony says
I don’t think the problem is with Dawkins’s behavior in this specific case. The problem is with the general idea that politicizing things is a problem in and of itself.
Just stopping at political behavior is the problem. Political bahavior is emotional behavior. Any politically motivated behavior should be individually justifiable otherwise the behavior remains an emotional response. If the political behavior is only an emotional reaction, then responses or challenges to the political behavior spiral into more political behavior instead of discussion of what the behavior was responding to.
Giliell, professional cynic -Ilk- says
It’s because it’s brown people.
And women in other countries. Dawkins is all for women’s rights when the perpetrators are part of the Other™ He just thinks women totally overreact when the perpetrators are part of the Self™
Brony says
Ah, I missed that. Thanks.

On a different note Are these really the words of “mild pedophilia” Dawkins?
