England and Wales just got a little bit more civilised. (Andrew B, not quite. Scotland’s first legal same-sex marriages won’t be until October iirc – and Northern Ireland still has no plans to legalise at all. But this is a major step in the right direction, certainly)

Although it was championed by a Tory PM, more of his party’s MPs voted against the bill than for it. And if we’re giving credit where it’s due (which it undoubtedly is on SSM), we can add this to the ledger:
