I’m all checked in to the dorms at OSU for the Secular Student Alliance conference, so time for a quick blog post before the conference starts! I’ll talk about serious stuff later when I have more time. Here are just some fun things.
Here’s a glimpse of the line of heathens waiting to get into the Creation Museum. This is before everyone got there, these are just the early people:This is one of the first things you see when you enter the museum: a little girl with a dinosaur. I swear this girl fell right smack dab in the middle of the uncanny valley. She freaked the hell out of me when she would look straight at you.
Josh and I enjoyed this exhibit sign:
ZOMG DINOSAURS!
No, not for people who believe this insane stuff:
Look! Atheist Evangelist! How appropriate:
A glimmer of hope in the museum:
And just to rub it in:
I like how much more excited I look than PZ, hahaha.
Fast forward to OSU:
After we had checked into our rooms, we noticed Wife Swap was playing on TV. Ironically, an atheist swapped with a super religious family (not the famous one with the crazy “God’s Warrior”, a new one). Then PZ walks in to check in, and after he’s done he came to see what we were watching. There’s something oddly cool about me, Mark, and Josh sitting and laughing at a horrifying and ironic episode of Wife Swap with PZ. Oh, and even better – PZ’s room is directly across the hall from me. Seriously.
And this was just the cherry on top:
Bus full of cheerleaders suddenly appears out of no where
Me: Hey Mark, proof there is a God!
Mark: …Wait, no, they’re jailbait!
Me: Never mind, proof there is no God.
More fun stuff later. Have to find food now!

I'm disturbed by how popular this place seems to be.
At least you had a good time. And mocked well.

Really enjoyed the play-by-play pics you published on Twitter. Thanks! I wish I could've been there!
By the way, I think Tom Estes pretty-much globally banned everyone who disagreed with him on his blog. I got cut too and I'd only made a couple of really mild comments. So I think he's pulled down the Iron Curtain of Self-Delusion.

I am so glad I went with ~280 atheists… it definitely felt like enemy territory.

Also, that animatronic girl creeps me out. Notice she's white, even though the Garden of Eden…nope. Nope, not even gonna try.

"Only 1 in 3 teens – 30% – say they will continue to participate in Church life."
Close on the math, but not quite.
It looks like they've tried to avoid being accurate in even the smallest details. Got to admire that sort of thoroughness.

Why can't we have a creation museum in the UK? Sounds like fun!
Our religious types are generally just too meek, and most of them closet agnostics anyway, but they're addicted to scones.

With regards to the picture of that little mannequin of a girl…very observant of you.
I'd seen a picture of her in the past and had thought that she was terrifically creepy.

Thanks for posting these! I really wanted to go, but I realized too late that the trip would be too expensive.
Wow, that little girl with a dinosaur is creepy! She moves, right? That's even worse!
Something like this needs to happen again. Cephalopodmas is a great time!

Great photos, especially the ZOMG! photo and the one with PZ wearing his crocoduck tie.
It was fun watching the #creozerg channel and crossposting twitpics by yourself and Rich Stage over to Pharyngula, seeing as you guys were among the very few with phone reception inside the haunted house/Faraday cage.
Best, Philip (aka Pope Maledict over at Pharyngula)

Interesting comments but did you learn anything? If there were disagreements. What were they? I don't see any reasoned rebuttals. I only see mockery. This does not speak well of your education.
