The amazing moral gymnastics of Pat Robertson

You have to admit that whatever else you think about Pat Robertson, he’s both an amazingly agile and brilliantly shameless sociopath, even for an old fundy grifter. Which is another way to say Robertson understands that the Man call Petreaus is really the victim here.Rightwing Watch even has the video:

Yesterday on the 700 Club, televangelist Pat Robertson seemed to portray CIA Director David Petraeus as the real victim of the growing sex scandal involving him and his biographer, Paula Broadwell. He described Broadwell as an “extremely good-looking woman” who is a “marathon runner, she’d run Iron Man triathlons and so she’s out running with him, and she’s writing a biography,” and Petraeus simply couldn’t help himself: “The man’s off in a foreign land and he’s lonely and here’s a good-looking lady throwing herself at him. He’s a man.”

You see? He has a stressful manly job leading manly men and that’s why it’s OK that he drilled a much younger women for a few months. Besides, she was “throwing herself at him,” which is one of many rightwing dog whistles for opportunistic slut who-deserves-no-government-subsidized-abortion.

Oh Pat, you goofy cuddly little fascist fossil, it seems like only yesterday you had a vastly different take on powerful manly men unfairly taken advantage of by opportunistic sluts. One grounded solidly in the geometric logic of Biblically based moral absolutism that could not be shaken by mere mortal musings.

In scolding tones, Robertson opened the two-day Christian Coalition conference by accusing Clinton of turning the Oval Office into a “playpen for the sexual freedom of the poster child of the 1960s.” He also called Clinton a “debauched, debased and defamed” leader.

In words of warning to Republicans who might be tempted to move cautiously toward impeachment, he criticized politicians who “are sitting in foxholes of political safety, surrounding themselves in polls and commentaries.” — Source LA Times 1998.

I wonder what could be so different this time (.:eye/roll:.).

I think Pat has found that he, too, is susceptible to feminine wiles. It’s their fault, not his.

    What’s different this time?

Petraeus is a Republican, of course. (And was once considered a possible 2016 presidential candidate)

AFAICT, Pat Robertson is an undead.

His handlers occasionally inject him with reanimation serum, give him a script, and hope he doesn’t try to eat their brains.

    Hence burqas.

Besides, she was “throwing herself at him,

Right onto his penis! What’s he supposed to do? Dodge?

If it is a republican male slut, that’s okay, he should be forgiven without ado as in this case it is always the females fault.
If it is a democrat, than he is a prick that cannot control his dick…and should be condemned and be pushed out of whatever office. What is wrong with a bit of hypocrisy?

He should have ran for the hills of course!
After all, a man is physiologically incapable of turning down the urges of his penis. The minute it is hard, the only concern becomes “gotta nut”. All a woman needs to do is tease a man just enough to get his little artillery shell up and at ’em, and he can’t say no.

Looks like he stopped just short of saying, “I’d hit that too, if I were Petraeus.”

This guy gets creepier and creepier. Notice how uncomfortable his co-host looks.
