When last we heard from the Heartland Insitute, they were reeling from a leaked document revealing their duplicity and hypocrisy. The same jokers are back with an ad campaign comparing climate scientists to murderers and madmen like bin Laden and the Unibomber:
(Think Progress) — Of course, not all global warming alarmists are murderers or tyrants. …
The people who still believe in man-made global warming are mostly on the radical fringe of society. This is why the most prominent advocates of global warming aren’t scientists. They are murderers, tyrants, and madmen.
Heartland got their ass kicked over it and said late Friday they’re going to take it down. But the same sleazeballs will be back with some other trash talking angle soon.
I understand why they do it, it’s their job to smear scientists and sell a lie to the public. But I really have to wonder why companies like State Farm, Microsoft, Eli Lilly & Co., GlaxoSmithKline, Nucor, Pfizer, and Time Warner Cable are supporting these clowns. I guess they think it’s good for a company’s image …?

I kinda like the billboards. It’s a way to tell conservatives: “this crazy wackjob knows more about the environment than you do. You ought to be ashamed”.

@ ^ jakc : Yep.

I suspect the Heartland Institute will soon be renamed something else to try and wrigggle out of their growing reputation for very blatant stoopidity.
Of course I could be mistaken. But I reckon that’s on the cards.
Is this part of their death throes – at least in their current guise?
Ultimately of course all Climate Denial will slam intyothe immovable wall of Reality.
But they’ve already delayed us far too long from doing what we should’ve done long ago.

Thanks for the shout-out, StevoR! For those of us who are Photoshop-enabled and desirous of parodying the livin’ bejeezus out of this insanity, I have created a handy template for your use and delectation. It’s set up so you can easily paste in whatever other photograph you like to replace the Unabomber. It also has two sets of text-blocks, one of them using Helvetica Bold and H. Black (the better to match the original billboard), and the other using Arial Bold and Black (because Arial is a *lot* more common than Helvetica, and it’s close enough for jazz); whichever layer-set you use, go ahead and ignore the other one.
