[UPDATE: After this news was reported in the media, at 9:12 pm last night the state department modified the document to remove the word ‘Tesla’ from it. Looting in secret is still looting.]
While grants to scientists are being cut and grant review board meetings are cancelled, the State Department, now under the control of Marco Rubio, is reportedly giving Elon Musk’s enterprises $400 million to purchase ‘Armored Teslas’.
The State Department’s procurement forecast, revised as of late December 2024, lists Tesla as the recipient of the largest expected contract, with Marco Rubio’s department planning to buy $400,000,000 worth of “Armored Tesla.”
The award is targeted for Q4, and is forecast to last for five years.
The procurement forecast is listed as having been modified on December 13, 2024, a month after Donald Trump’s election. The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Under the heading, “extent competed,” the document reads merely “TBD.”
This is a developing story, check DropSiteNews.com for updates.
Elon Musk is both the head of Tesla and a senior government official who has been relentlessly halting government contracts.
Nobody should be surprised by this, unless they thought Musk’s deep involvement with the running of the government was because of the goodness of his heart.
how many outrages have to pile up before his cultists start to give a fuck? i don’t know. he could probably tell them to fork over their life savings and drink battery acid because jesus said it was cool, and 99% of them would do it.
Didn’t our nominal president insist that police should shoot-to-kill looters on sight?
@Bébé Mélange #1: Oh, they’ll notice eventually. And they’ll blame whoever the perpetrators tell them to blame.
@Pierce R. Butler #2: Rich white guys, or those in their employ, aren’t looters by definition. Well, okay, he didn’t actually make that definition clear, but it was implied, by the thoughts in his head which he never shared with anyone.
trew, trew. on the plus side, if even one of these things is built, it’ll kill anyone foolish enough to get behind the wheel, take out some jerks. or it’ll be super easy to destroy, like one of those vampires that dissolves in running water or explodes in sunlight.
This doesn’t appear to make sense. As the Trump administration didn’t obtain control of the State Department until January 20th 2025 how could they insert line entries into a December 2024 procurement forecast?
I wondered why the State Department would need armoured Teslas (there’d be more plausible deniability if they laundered money through the FBI, or DoJ support for state/local law enforcement). However year 2024 forecast did have armoured vehicles on the forecast (including some for delivery to Ukraine), so I see that foreign aid through the State Department does include such things.
The 2025 forecast seems to have rather more listings for armoured vehicles, but there doesn’t appear to be a line for armoured Testas (there is one for armoured electric vehicles).
Another reason why DOGE would need accountants instead of keyboard jocks, if it really intended to do what it claims:
another stewart @#5,
The listings for Tesla by name were there. I saw them myself. But if you looked at the database after 9:12 pm ET last night, the word Tesla had already been removed. (See my update above.)
As to the date, after Trump won in November, the wheels for what he and Musk wanted were immediately set in motion and few officials in government would be willing to challenge any directive that came from them even if they were not actually in power.
