Three little kids, the youngest no more than 3 years old…and our evil cat tried to kill them. Seriously: hissing, spitting, snarling, clawing at them, and I just managed to intercept the attack with my foot. After they escaped, she was prowling by the door, evil in her eye, waiting for her next victim.
She has now been locked in a back room. No candy for her. If I should die tonight, warn any people who come to my house that there is a dark wickedness lurking behind one of the doors, and to beware.
I’ve been telling you for years that this cat is literally evil. Do you believe me yet?
By the way, I’ve added potatoes to the candy bowl this year. Some kids are incredibly excited about getting a potato for Hallowe’en.

At least you have Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I made a big mistake this year. The first bag I picked up had Reese’s in it, but only had a 60 count. I needed a bigger bag so I picked up the similar one next to it that had a 120 count. It wasn’t until I got home that I noticed the second bag didn’t include Reese’s. That really smashed my pumpkin.
You should thank your guard cat!
We ourselves had a desultory effort, but my pooch woofed convincingly, so they passed us by.
Honestly, I can’t see the whole thing taking off here in Oz, especially these days when the yanks are on the nose (culturally, people are still people).
(Also, potatoes make passable missiles)
@ ^ John Morales : There’s also the Potato gun and even the potato cannon :

I was checking out people at the supermarket today and a customer came up with a dozen sweet potatoes. I asked her if she was going to hand them out to the kids. She said no, that she was making some soup. I said that’s boring and she should change her mind – children yearn for sweet potatoes.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks so.
