They really hate Ilhan Omar

I’m not in her district, so I can’t vote for her, but if I were I would. James O’Keefe, professional slimeball, is targeting her yet again with pseudo-exposes of what he claims is illegal behavior.

Project Veritas has claimed Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar is engaging in illegal ballot harvesting and a cash-for-ballots scheme in her district in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The group, which has targeted mainly liberal groups with “sting” operations, posted a video late on Sunday showing what it claims is evidence of an illegal effort to harvest absentee ballots.

The group’s founder, James O’Keefe, alleged on Twitter that Omar’s team may have bribed voters in Minnesota’s 5th congressional district, which she has represented since 2019.

A few problems here: he has no evidence of voters being bribed (which would be peculiar, since the population of her district are eager to support her, and you’re not going to bribe local bigots to vote for her anyway), so that accusation is basically libelous. A second problem is that assisting others in delivering ballots (“harvesting” ballots) isn’t illegal in Minnesota. The practice has even stood up in the state Supreme Court. The Republicans hate it, because how dare you help the elderly and shut-ins and the overworked practice their rights?

Also, this smear campaign has nothing to do with Omar. The ballots they’re complaining about were collected by campaigners for Jamal Osman, for a city council seat. But hey, he’s Muslim, they’re all the same, right?

None of that matters. Project Veritas is a sleazy operation that’s desperate to distract voters from the spectacle of Republican corruption, so they ginned up some weak sauce to splatter Democrats with. Mediocre.

Poor woman. It’s difficult enough to be in congress without all this hate and harassment and death threats and the like.

As for “cash for ballots”: that’s what Trump’s doing, with his $200 cards? I think that’s a pretty low price for a ballot. But, to say the truth, when Mitt Romney was wallowing in self-pity after he lost in 2012, he said something like “Well, if we’d just offered people $10,000 a year for out-of-pocket medical costs, they would have voted for us.”

And I was thinking, well, yes, that would buy my vote.

But, since democrats had passed Obamacare, I’d already been “bought”.

When is that asshat going to finally cross the line that gets him tossed in jail? O’Keefe has an annoying habit of breaking the law and getting away with it. It’s gotta catch up with him sooner or later.

The Newsweek article is heavily slanted towards Veritas, i guess reflecting Newsweeks’ ownerships’ ties to that weird Korean cult. They make none of the distinctions between Omar and Osman and use the propaganda term “harvesting” throughout.

The right hates whoever they perceive as effective opponents, and they’re probably right about Omar. It’s a badge of honor.

Given the recent move to make it legal to drive your car through a crowd of protesters, and the perception of Kyle Rittenhouse as some kind of “hero”, I’m guessing that line is receding faster than he can cross it.

    LOL

Jesus fuck, they can’t even innuendo correctly.

Veritas: Omar illegally fed her children chickpea stew, which is vegan! Except that it wasn’t Omar so much as the hippy neighbor who lives 2 streets over and e-mailed her once. LOCK OMAR UP!

Normal human: And this was illegal how?

    Veritas: VEGAN! I SAID VEGAN!

Project Veritas first came to attention by destroying ACORN, an effective community organization group. I’m not saying these people are very smart, but they are effective in same way the dumbest school bully can wreck your science fair project on the way to school. I have no idea when the pain will stop.

O’Keefe has been in court a lot, and lost those court cases

He does have a criminal conviction for attempting to bug Democratic offices in Louisiana.
He’s lost civil cases as well.

Remember, peeps, if O’Keefe shows up to try and get some “sting” material, TAZE him good and hard.

    It’s more of a Korean-American cult.

“mainly liberal groups” – “balance” from Newsweek? They ONLY target liberal groups, but the media must not say this, right?

Aaargh…I realised it is only 3 hours until the presidential debate.
I would be confident if it was Ilhan Omar , but with Biden there is a genuine risk he might have a senior moment.
On the other hand, there are rumors Trump is too arrogant and lazy to prepare. But since Biden has a lead already, risk-management would suggest keeping him away from debates even if the risk of a screw-up is minor.
It is like Russian roulette: even if the odds superficially look good, the consequences for things going wrong are får too drastic to risk it.
But this is where we are, until Ilhan Omar’s generation takes over from the old pseudo-liberals.

The judge Amy something Barrett nominated by Trump to the supreme court is a member if the cult-like People of Praise, which ex-members say treat women as brood mares, but I suspect Newsweek is not going to cover that….

In the past Republicans have supported anything that helps the elderly vote, such as mail in ballots. The GOP has seen older people as their core base for some time. From that stand point, the present effort to block such things is odd. I read that someone in the RNC finally got through to someone with the Trumpster fire campaign that they might cool killing the USPS and blocking mail in ballots to suppress voting. It could hurt them more than help them.

When is that asshat going to finally cross the line that gets him tossed in jail?

When he shoots a cop. 100% guarantee he will be in jail promptly, in not dead.

@Snarki, child of Loki, why go through all that trouble? Had them the Taser and watch them light themselves up.
