As a Washingtonian, I was initially disappointed that the poll was initially against the sane side. Then I realized Wenatchee is in eastern Washington, which is basically the west’s brain-dead brother, and breathed a sigh of relief.

I just voted, and now that it’s properly where it should be at 89% yes and 11% no the poll is no longer pointless; it’s highly meaningful, scientific, and relevant.

When will people learn that bestowing established human rights upon a minority group is not up for popular vote just because you dislike the group in question?

Washington says yes to the tune of 92%. There goes the neighborhood. My neighbor Vern will probably be the first to sell his house to a gay couple. God knows what Vern is going to do now with his wrecked cars?

Ahhh, Wenatchee. Home of the Wenatchee Sex Ring Scandal, one of the very last of the “day care sexual abuse hysteria” cases. (My cousin was working in the prosecutor’s office at the time, poor man.) Home of apples, and snow, and, well, not a hell of a lot else.
I really think full marriage equality will happen here in 2012. The current domestic partnership laws require that all marriage rights be given people in registered civil unions, we just have a DOMA law in effect. Governor Gregoire has come out (no pun intended) in favor of full marriage equality, and thankfully the Ouget Sound can outvote my ass-backward side of the state. Here’s hoping…

Oh, and don’t blame its bigotry and idiocy on the Eastern half of the state. I live 20 miles from the state’s eastern border and we don’t claim those idiots either.

Why the fuck is this question always presented as a “should” question? The only relevant question is an “is” question. Is gay marriage legal?
Yes, according to the Constitution of the United States. If two adults are allowed to enter into a contract with the State, the equal protection clause makes very clear the fact that any two adults may enter into the same contract with the State.
