I was driving home from work last night, and was thinking about that slogan, “We report, you decide.” It was bugging me because I had the nagging feeling I’d heard a very similar quote, years ago, but couldn’t remember what it was. Then it came to me.
“Garbage in, garbage out.”

It might help if they’d provide the tools to make a good decision.

“We report, you decide” always reminds me of this exchange from the original Total Recall movie:

It has been a while since last I heard a reference to Garbage In – Garbage Out, shorthand was very mouth friendly – GIGO.
Many arguments offered by creationists and deniers of all stripes, and FOX News in general, are deeply flawed because they are examples of GIGO. Even the clearest thinking and most rigorous logic fails to provide useful output if applied to garbage assumptions and bad information.

One of the most cynical slogans ever devised. “We report, you decide” Yeah we “decide” based on what and how you report it. Joseph Goebbels could not have come up with a better line.
