    People are making a mountain out of a molehill here. As demonstrated in that short, -maxxing is just the term du jour for taking up an interest or hobby,originally with the connotation that it was being taken to an extreme. Looksmaxxing began the trend and probably best deserved the term, as it really does take the hobby of self obsession to an extreme -- hammering one’s face -- but that connotation has been watered down over time as its usage spread.

    Nothingmaxxing -- there was no need for a neologism for meditation, let alone for doing nothing. Sleepmaxxing -- there’s already a clinical term for this: sleep hygiene. Yoghurtmaxxing -- eating yoghurt does not need a new term; nor does having a favourite food of any sort. Frictionmaxxing -- phone and spending discipline. And so on.

    The term will dry up in a short while, and will be buried by the new fads circulating through the internet.

    That said, I did find the Chinamaxxing section interesting for unrelated reasons.

    Did these Chinamaxxing fools learn nothing from Rachel Dolezal? I suppose they’re so bubblewrapped they never heard of her, or if they have, took the wrong lesson.

    @2 Ridana

    Did these Chinamaxxing fools learn nothing from Rachel Dolezal?

    What I learned from the freakout surrounding Rachel Dolezal was that there are still plenty of vile racists out there who are ready to consult their pseudoscientific skin color and blood relation charts as long as they think they have a good excuse to do so — in that case, the victim was allegedly White enough to justify scrutiny.
