Fox News personality Laura Ingraham is an awful person similar to Tucker Carlson, using her show to promote the most hateful views. To appreciate this clip, all you have to know is that there is apparently a show on Netflix called You that she has clearly never heard of. (I had never heard of it either but I am notoriously clueless when it comes to popular culture.)

That is hilarious, and especially so because if Ingraham would just stop flapping her gums for two seconds she could have heard the explanation, but of course she wouldn’t.
Well, I do have to say that the guy was doing a lousy job, right from the start, assuming that everybody would know about the Netflix show “You”, and it took him forever to get to saying it. The only hint he gave was the way he stressed the word “you”. And despite her obvious initial confusion, he did little to try to clear it up for a long time. It makes me wonder whether he was deliberately starting a “Who’s on first?” situation.
And that said, I bet Laura will claim now that it was a pre-arranged bit that they deliberately did for comic effect.

I too thought that the guy did a lousy job but you’d be surprised at how difficult some people find it to gauge what the other person is thinking and what the source of the confusion is. He seemed to me to be under the impression that he was being clear. I do not think he was being deliberately obtuse. Keeping a straight face would require acting ability.
It’s a sign of lacking empathy to not recognise another persons confusion.
Regardless, I think we know what the “cold open” on SNL will be this week.
This is so hard to watch and is absolutely befuddling--how does he not recognize her confusion? If that were me, I would have prefaced it with “I was watching an episode of the show called “You” on Netflix the other day…”. He reminds me of dumb Americans that, when confronted with someone who doesn’t understand them because they don’t speak English, say the same thing but much more slowly, as if that’s going to help.
