How time flies when you’re having fun

Today marks the fourth anniversary of my blog as part of the Freethought network, though I had been blogging on my earlier university site since January 2005. I truly never thought that I would keep it up for so long and still enjoy it. It has been the lively and enthusiastic response of the readers that has contributed to the enjoyment, in addition to being a learning experience for me.

Sometime on December 31, this blog also passed another landmark in that it registered 6 million page views since it started here. For just 2015, the visitors came from 207 countries, with most of them coming from the English-speaking world: USA, UK, Canada, and Australia in that order with Germany next in terms of numbers. There were also many readers from New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, India, Finland, Brazil, and South Africa.

Meanwhile, my new retirement writing schedule is going well. I am getting a lot of writing done on my book but also managing to maintain my blog. At some point, I will post a chapter from my book in order to give readers a taste of what it is about.

Thanks everyone!

Great to hear! And may I say that I value this blog as a refuge for its more sober approach to discussion than quite a few other blogs.

Personally, if I were going to exclude one of the ANZACS countries from the “English-speaking world”, I’d pick Australia over New Zealand.

Mano, you made your retirement announcement while I was away on summer holidays. Congratulations on being able to achieve that milestone and having the space to devote to writing. I’ll look forward to the result and thanks for keeping the blog active.

moarscienceplz -- Ha! Coming from the land of the long white cloud I agree of course, although some of our regional accents might give others pause for thought.

    Congratulations and thankyou Mano Singham.

We don’t always see eye to eye metaphorically speaking but I do appreciate your blog and respect you.
