Looking for Atlas

So you read Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead and inspired by their powerful message of the virtue of selfishness and the vice of altruism, you have sworn off having anything to do with the moochers and looters who are trying to live off the hard-earned rewards of your own genius. But you now feel lonely because there are so few pure Randian objectivists around and none of the people in your present circle seem willing to take you up on your generous offer to loan them 1,000 page novels containing turgid prose and two-dimensional characters. What is a maker to do?

Don’t worry! There exists a new dating site called The Atlasphere where Ayn Rand devotees can find each other. I haven’t waded through it all but here is a description of the kinds of people who have advertised on it and I am sure you are likely to find a soul mate there. Here’s one offering:

I graduated from UCLA in 2010 with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Race and Ethnic Studies. I really wanted to know personally on an intellectual level (if that’s even possible) why and how the modern liberal thought (or didn’t think). Thus, I have extensively studied their political views in college and even grew a reputation wherever I went. In class, I’ve been called “racist” and “heartless”, but I just figure these labels are appropriate for someone who has an actual sense of justice.

“Also, my favorite word is “dominate”. I apply it to all aspects of life.”

Who could resist such a person?

Henry Rollins did a hysterical bit on one of his old spoken word performances about going on aryan dating sites and trolling for aryans. There is tremendous troll potential, and I’m imagining how much a male randroid would enjoy a randfem if she were played as a sort of utterly selfish praying mantis-like creature who just saw men as resources to be used in coopetition.

I might create a profile myself. Let’s see…I could be a psychopathic mass murderer who cannily kills dozens of women over a period of time, dismembering them in a ritualistic manner and laughing at the police. THAT, my friends would be domination. And certainly worthy of a Randian true beleiver, given Saint Ayn’s admiration of such a character.

I would love to see the results of such a troll! 🙂

    I’d call bullshit on that.

So forget about safe words when we’re married because you are going to cop it sweetheart.

As someone who actually did graduate UCLA in 2010, I think you might be right… considering the fact that we don’t actually have a minor in Race and Ethnic Studies. Not that we didn’t have our fair share of Randians and racists.
