How stupid are creationists?

I’m thinking that most probably aren’t stupid enough to fall for this, so maybe this is the floor.

That comes from a Muslim channel that has other stupid AI-generated videos, like this. All they tell me is that you have to be seriously deluded to accept any of the claims of religion.

m thinking that most probably aren’t stupid enough to fall for this, so maybe this is the floor.

    There is no floor.

Right now, there is a team of creationists drilling into a boat shaped geological formation in Turkey.
This has been on Yahoo news every day for weeks.
This is an old site that is known to have nothing to do with ancient mythological boats decades ago.

Researchers have begun core drilling at the boat-shaped Durupınar formation in eastern Turkey near Mount Ararat to test claims that the site contains the remains of Noah’s Ark.

Key Details of the 2026 Fieldwork & Drilling

    • Depth and Core Samples: An international team including the Noah’s Ark Research Project and local university researchers completed their first full field season of core drilling, collecting hundreds of soil samples from depths of up to 60 feet (approx. 18 meters).

Some people have more time and money than common sense.

Not that anyone needs help spotting stupid things about this, but…That boat might be large enough to keep a mating pair of those alive for 40 days(and 40 nights!), but what about the other species? Also, why is it still on the boat?

They should read Jeanette Winterson’s ‘Boating for Beginners’ if they want the truth. God was made out of a piece of Black Forest Gateau and an electric toaster!

^ mordred : Beat me to it.

    Very beyond superlatives.

Deliberate, willful stupidity caused by the blinkers they choose to constrain their minds within.

    It hurts.

Hurts the world we live in with its consequences. Makes it worse for all ultimately. Makes thew orld stupider, Metaphorically darker. More ignornat. Creates needless issues with people casuing needless issues Needles sissues like pretending phlogiston is fire. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phlogiston_theory ) like, no. It aion;’t that’s settled but stIlll argued.

I wonder if it hurts them.

“Mind forged manacles” as some poet once put it. Sylvia Plath? Blake? (Singular not 7. English not distant future fiction.)

Think the fomer and same poem as the line “The peanut munching crowd” but could well be mistaken..

@charley: did you see any doors for it to exit through? Clearly they loaded up a pair of babies that grew miraculously over the 40 days and were then stuck there. It appears only the head of the other one remains, which implies cannibalism. Sad story, it is.

I’m also really impressed by how all the bones hold together while being lifted by a handful of ropes.

Thanks SteveoR, that’s reminiscent of the Sirius Cybernetics lifts in The Hitchhikers’ Guide. “Mind forged manacles” is Blake; I always remember it from Britten’s setting.

Thank you for bringing up Blake’s 7.
It reminds me of how fundie Xians believe alien abductions are performed by demons disguised as aliens.

We should all just delegate belief to the electric monks.

a team of creationists drilling into a boat shaped geological formation in Turkey.

    From the Infinite Thread:

The work is not based on the assumption that a ship lies underground. Instead, the team aims to determine whether the unusual shape is entirely geological or whether any evidence of human activity survives within or around it. […] The project is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Cenker Atila of the Department of Archaeology at Sivas Cumhuriyet University. Andrew Mark Jones and Dr. Evrensel Barış Berkant are serving as deputy project leaders, while the US-based Noah’s Ark Scans is supporting the research.
    […]
Geological surveys, drilling attempts and radar work have been carried out there since the second half of the 20th century. A detailed study published in 1996 […] concluded that the formation was natural. Their analysis attributed its ship-like appearance to folded sedimentary layers, erosion and landslide activity.

the evidence suggests either a natural geological fold or a buried decayed wooden ship preserved in the mountains of Ararat

Tour companies are exploiting premature hype […] The tour website presents a university letterhead document authored by Atila as an authorization letter, asserting that the study is conducted in partnership with the firm and supported by Turkish institutions.
    […]
creationist groups continuously fund expeditions hoping to find biblical artifacts on the mountain.

Oops. During revision @12, I decided to cite and re-excerpt from scratch but forgot to point the initial link directly at the article. The Infinite Thread click-through was unnecessary, but the article can be reached from there.
