She had me at ‘insect cosplay’

Lady Gaga is on tour, starting in Europe…and as expected, the show features fabulous costumes and choreography.

Awesome. An arachnid’s dream.

I was so tempted that I even looked up her tour venues, and fortunately, for anyone who shouldn’t go out into crowds indoors (like everyone), Minneapolis isn’t on the list. I guess I won’t put myself at risk!

And here I thought she was auditioning for a David-Cronenberg-inspired production of Cats.

I bet she’d at least have some fun in “Cats.” That’s the sort of lark/side-hustle I’d expect from the Lady who worked with Tony Bennett.

And as for that costume, it’s not my cup of tea, but I’ve seen far worse. Sort of arachnid-Bridgerton?

hillaryrettig1@4 Wow. Now I know what’s been missing in my life all this time. (Seriously.)

@3 I was thinking that the antennae more closely resembled Coleoptera antennae but maybe it’s just me. Arachnida was not the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the costume. Those antennae don’t kinda say Cantharidae or Lampyridae to you?

    More over-the-top, decadent spectacle.

You say it like it’s a bad thing.

PaulBC @3, was my first thought — having been primed to realise it was not just a regular fancy costume; I imagine it’s more like a mantis would munch on a spider than the converse. Not that I know or am about to research it.

  9. PaulBC says

Silentbob@13 Well yes, but Lady Gaga’s costume doesn’t look like a spider to me. Isabella Rosselini’s on the other hand, no mistaking that.

I see a mantid, or the latest design from Iris Van Herpen.

Do arachnids dream of electric flies?
