    @1, my take on the Ellison accusation is this. If Ellison loses, the video will never come out and his most passionate followers will be angry and less likely to go to the polls and vote in November. If Ellison wins, the video will come out and depress Democratic turnout at the polls in November. Politics ain’t beanbag.

    @5 It’s a head-I-win, tails-you-lose strategy. If the video is shown now, it’s all but certain that Ellison goes down but the issue is resolved. So you don’t produce it unless it’s to your benefit to. If it’s to your benefit to not produce it, you don’t. This of course presumes that it’s the opposing party that’s got control of said video. I could be wrong about that, but it’s odd that the kid involved just wouldn’t do it to back up their assertions. We’ll see, I guess.

    @davidc1: Sure, but how often are the people who they elect? There are committees on things like women’s rights that don’t manage to have a single woman on them, and I think the Muslim Republicans in office might be even more scarce.
