Today was Genetics day, the other big class I’m teaching this term. Syllabus done! Lab supplies ordered! Now I’m just going to work on redoing my introductory lecture (I’m completely revamping that to set the students up for some of the upcoming complexity.)

Well done.
However to set the students up for … might be introducing some anxiety. :)

Anotherone ride the bus? ;)

My genetics prof tried to set us up, but after the first few lectures I stopped coming, because it turned out that the complexity he was talking about was the math of Mendelian genetics, which was dead easy to a Math major. Most of the other people in the class were premed. Don’t ask a doctor to balance your check book.
PZ Myers says
The Mendelian stuff is dead easy. That’s not the complications I’m talking about: epistasis, epigenetics, heritability, environmental influences. There ain’t much genetics that neatly fits the Mendelian model.
