Pam Mazanec addressed the Colorado state board of education with an argument for “improving” the teaching of history.
As an example, I note our slavery history. Yes, we practiced slavery. But we also ended it voluntarily, at great sacrifice, while the practice continues in many countries still today! Shouldn’t our students be provided that viewpoint? This is part of the argument that America is exceptional.
I have been told that the divisions over sexism racking the atheist movement are a purely American problem — this simply isn’t an issue in Europe. There’s also the implication that it’s a phony concern, ginned up by bloggin’ malcontents.
So I guess the University of Nottingham is located somewhere in Iowa, then?

Deja vu…years ago, we I was a wee young grad student and the only labs doing work on zebrafish were at the University of Oregon, we used to have to do this annoying thing everyone called the “zebrafish litany” at our talks. Because they were relatively unknown, we had this short explanation for why we were working on zebrafish: rapidlydevelopingtransparentvertebrateembryos. And later we added “genetics” and “transgenics” and “medicalapplications” to the boilerplate. As the mob of zebrafish acolytes grew, I swear you could hear the squishy sounds of eyeballs rolling every time we started our introductions.
Well, the laugh is on them. Now everybody gets to read the zebrafish litany, and we’re taking over the known universe.
And she should be. She speaks out about the photo hacking and the culture that encourages it.
This is ugly, and it pains me to spread these lies further, but I see it as the only way to expose them. This is a post on facebook that is all about me — it was apparently made in retaliation for me pointing out to Michael Nugent that his blog is a haven for slymepit scum, so one of those scum had to vent his fury.
I think the vindictive nature of this nonsense, and the absurdity of the lies he is spreading, will be obvious.
I do not trust the police at all any more. The news has utterly destroyed their reputation, and it’s damned clear that they have a screwed-up idea of their mission.
Case in point: this is how Indiana police respond to a seat belt infraction. That’s right, a woman forget to fasten her seat belt when she was rushing to the hospital.
I’m familiar with a certain company for their manufacture of electron microscopes and spectrophotometers, and there they proudly slap their name on their products. But strangely, they don’t attach their name to their most widely used, most popular, mass market product. Can you guess what it is?
