Ten endangered pygmy elephants have been found dead in a reserve in Malaysia. They all suffered internal bleeding. The elephants were most likely poisoned.
A three-month-old baby elephant is trying to wake her mother. She does not like to say goodbye.
I do not know, whether any animals weep and shed tears like humans for emotional reasons. I know they mourn the death of their loved ones. Elephants do it. I do not really know what they exactly feel. I wish I knew.
The mother elephant does not accept her new-born baby’s death. She is trying to wake her up.
Elephants mourn the death of other elephants.
Elephants stop when they see a dead elephant. They are grieving. Now a days humans do not have time to stop for a human.
We created a word: ‘humane’. The word is closely related to human. Humane is about having or showing compassion or benevolence. Why don’t we create a word like humane related to elephants because elephants have compassion and they show it! Sometimes I feel that they have more compassion than us. What about ‘elephantane’?
You may not like Chinese philanthropist and environmentalist Chen Guangbiao, I like him. He has been selling canned fresh air to fight pollution.
Chen said, “Every day we are inhaling the exhaust fumes of cars, and now we have pollution-free air to sell – a benefit to everyone’s health and longevity.”
Canned fresh air is selling well in China. Chen believes a sale of more than a hundred million in the first year should not be a problem. He actually wanted to make a point that China’s air was turning so bad that the idea of bottled fresh air is no longer a luxury.
Beijing’s air pollution reached danger levels. Shanghai, Guangzhou and some other Chinese cities are also dangerously polluted.
China is the most polluted country in the world. Estimated 2011 CO2 Emissions in metric tonnes in:
1. China 8.7 billion
2. USA 5.42 billion
3. India 1.97 billion
4. Russia 1.83 billion
5. Japan 1.24 billion
6. Germany 810 million
7. South Korea 610 million
8. Canada 560 million
9. Indonesia 490 million
10. United Kingdom 470 million
Time has come to sell canned fresh air in other polluted countries.
Finally some women open their mouth against Kamasutra, an ancient Indian text on human sexual behavior.
“Vatsyayana failed to examine female desire and since then, women have been silent about it.”
“Kamasutra is silent on how a woman should pursue Kama or enjoy sensual pleasure”.
“Kamasutra teaches that a man can forcefully have sex with a woman and then marry her. This is against the concept of women’s security. The text has been practised for thousands of years and passed down generation… such ideas encourage treatment of woman as an object.”
“This accumulated knowledge has led to patriarchal attitudes becoming deeply embedded in the men. This encourages violence against women and we need to recognise that.”
“Even today, the so-called empowered women are not ready to face their own sexuality.”
“Women need to become equal to men. We have to work for that because men are not going to make us their equal. We must stop sacrificing our jobs for family or kids or housekeeping,”
I personally do not like some parts of Kamasutra. For example, the fourth book. It explains the role of the wife.
A wife’s main role is to keep the house functional – clean, with food on the table, well-maintained, and self-sufficient. Meals are a crucial part of a woman’s duties and she should make sure to consider what her husband likes and dislikes and what things are good for him. If a wife shows folly or ill-temper, is disliked by her husband, cannot bear children, or continually births girls, the man is free to take a second wife, whom the first wife must care for like a daughter.
Sex is a male thing, women should remain silent about their desires, men should assert their sexual dominance over women, women’s duty is to please their husbands – these concepts are not 2000 years old. Vatsyayana did not invent these concepts. 6000 year old patriarchy did.
Patriarchy does not care about women’s desire or pleasure. At least Kamasutra did. Vatsyayana was probably the first person in the patriarchal world who expressed the ideas about building women’s confidence until she was fully receptive and unafraid of having sex. According to Vatsyayana, the building of confidence is crucial, a man must recognize the signs that indicate that a girl is not only ready for sex, but that her affection has reached a sufficient point to allow him to have sex with her. Here Kamasutra is more female friendly than patriarchy.
The millions of Jews and others killed during the Holocaust are being remembered in services across the UK, as part of Holocaust Memorial Day.
Prime Minister David Cameron said, “Memorial Day is a day to remember the innocent victims of the Holocaust, and re-commit to combat all forms of racism & prejudice.”
David Ward, the Liberal Democrat MP said, “I am saddened that the Jews, who suffered unbelievable levels of persecution during the Holocaust, could within a few years of liberation from the death camps be inflicting atrocities on Palestinians in the new state of Israel and continue to do so on a daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza”.
David Ward later apologized for ‘unintended offence’ after suggesting ‘the Jews’ had not learned the lessons of the Holocaust.
Why is it not politically correct to criticize Jews even if they do something wrong? If you criticize Jews you are called ‘anti-Semite’, it is exactly like you are called ‘Islamophobe’ when you criticize Muslims.
What about freedom of expression? It is not good to keep our mouth shut because we all are scared of being called anti-Semite or Islamophobe. If you do not believe in freedom of expression, you do not believe in human rights and democracy. Like Nazi.
There are many forms of information storages. Unlike them DNA is terrifically long-lasting and does not require constant electrical power, it is tiny and a small cup of DNA can store one hundred million hours of HD video. What else do you need?
We ordinary people do not use DNA storage. Because DNA synthesis is very expensive and only works for short strings. But scientists have used synthetic DNA to store digital files.
British researchers broke a long string of information into many overlapping short sequences, each tagged with its position in the overall sequence. American collaborators then synthesized short pieces of DNA to match the strings, and shipped the material overseas. Finally, researchers reconstructed the digital files with complete accuracy.
From what I understand is, it will take a decade to make DNA storage cost-effective. I really hope it happens in my lifetime. I just can’t wait to use it.
Most Indian films are unreal patriarchal musical. I don’t watch Indian films unless the films are made by excellent filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, Aparna Sen, Rituparno Ghosh, Kaushik Ganguly, Shyam Benegal, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Viswaroopam is not my kind of film. I will not watch the film but I will defend the rights of others to watch it. It is a spy thriller film, directed by Kamal Haasan, a South Indian actor.
Muslim groups wanted a ban on screening of Viswaroopam, so it was banned. The film was also banned in Malaysia and UAE.
Coward countries are banning the film. Coward cinemas are not going to show the film. Almost everybody is having a fear of Muslim fanatics. Almost everything in this modern world hurt the sentiments of Muslims. The fanatics have the freedom to do whatever they like. They can make books, films, paintings banned if they want. They can threatened to kill anyone. And they can get away with it.
Democracy will not be real democracy, freedom of expression will remain a myth, human rights will continue to be violated if the authorities continue banning everything Muslim fanatics ask for. The authorities should stop bowing their heads before the weird demands of ignorant idiots. Islam must not be exempt from the critical scrutiny other religions have gone through. If Muslim fanatics try to burn the cities, destroy public properties, start riot, they should be punished for the crimes they commit. They have no right to escape the law only because they are Muslims and they have sentiments. Short sighted politicians who try to appease Muslim fanatics are the enemies of the countries. It is time to reject them. The world will be a better place if the authorities stop being afraid of religious fanatics.
Garima-II, the cloned buffalo was born on August 22nd, 2010. She survived without any complications and delivered a calf at 1.51am yesterday. The baby buffalo is called Mahima. She weighs 32 kg. Mahima is in very good health. She started sucking milk within 30 minutes of her birth. Thanks Garima-II for giving birth to a healthy baby buffalo. Hello Mahima, the little sweetiepie baby, welcome to Earth! Long live both of you!
The scientists working for National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) produced the world’s first cloned buffalo through ‘advanced hand-guided cloning technique’. First clone died 6 days after birth. The second clone was alive for 2 years. The third clone is Garima-II, the proud mother.
Do you want to know about the Hand-guided cloning technique that was used to produced cloned animals?
Hand-guided cloning technique is an advanced modification of the conventional cloning technique that requires expensive micromanipulator machines. In this technique, immature oocytes are isolated from ovaries and are matured in-vitro. These are then denuded, treated with an enzyme to digest the outer covering called ‘zona pellucida’ and then treated with chemicals to push their genetic material to one side. This side is then cut off with the help of a hand-held fine microblade to remove the genetic material. The enucleated oocyte is then electrofused with a somatic cell taken from any source. The resulting embryos are cultured and grown in the laboratory for about seven days to develop them to the blastocyst stage. The embryos are then transferred to recipient buffaloes for producing cloned offspring.
Ain’t it cool?
There is a hell of a lot of women are as bad as men.
A Republican lawmaker Cathrynn Brown in New Mexico introduced a bill that would require victims of rape to carry their pregnancies to term in order to use the fetus as evidence for a sexual assault trial or face charges of “tampering with evidence.”
Under House Bill 206, if a woman ended her pregnancy after being raped, both she and her doctor would be charged with a felony punishable by up to 3 years in state prison: The bill says, “Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime.”
Cathrynn Brown should know that a DNA paternity test can be done as early as the end of the first trimester of pregnancy. No woman needs to carry her pregnancy to term for it.
New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez advanced a proposal to require women who become pregnant from rape to prove they were forcibly raped in order to qualify for childcare assistance.
Some say, “it establishes in state law a narrow definition of rape. It puts a heavy burden on women who have been raped and are now struggling economically to support a child.” Another opinion is, “it would force women who have left violent domestic partnerships, who were date-raped, who were impregnated as a result of incest, or through other “non-forcible” but nonetheless equally violent and denigrating means of sexual violation to first re-engage with their abusers to seek child support, putting control of their lives back into the hands of someone by whom they were violated in the most profound sense of the term.”
Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) has introduced the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act (H.R. 61) which would stop the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) from providing federal family planning assistance to abortion businesses until they certify they won’t provide and refer for abortions. She said, “As a woman, I believe America deserves better than abortion. America shouldn’t celebrate abortion and our taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood, who profit from the destruction of human life with taxpayer money. It’s fiscally irresponsible and morally indefensible.” The bill would “prohibit family planning grants from being awarded to any entity that performs abortions.”
What a pathetic anti-choice freak!
These women do not believe in women’s human rights. Seriously, as a woman I am ashamed of these women!
