Wow! Richard Dawkins’s complete genome sequenced!

While fighting pancreatic cancer, Steve Jobs consulted doctors who coordinated his genetic sequencing and analysis. It cost him $100,000. I hope the price would be low and we would soon get our genome sequencing and analysis done!

Richard Dawkins got his genome sequenced? Where can I find out more? James D. Watson, one of the discoverers of the double-helix structure of DNA, had gotten his genome sequence, but I couldn’t find out anything about Richard Dawkins’s genome.

In any case, I’ve found a nice article: DNA Sequencing Costs at the National Human Genome Research Institute’s site.

Back in 2000, sequencing a human genome was a heroic effort, costing something like $100 million/genome. Nowadays, it can be done for as little as $10,000/genome.

As sequencing becomes cheaper and cheaper, biologists have been sequencing more and more genomes, including genomes of more and more species. At least a thousand prokaryote genomes and varying amounts of progress on a few hundred eukaryote genomes. I’ve found several proposals to sequence hundreds more, and also 1000 Genomes | A Deep Catalog of Human Genetic Variation

You can get genotyped for $300 ( https://www.23andme.com/ ) right now. It’s easy and anonymous.

It’s not complete sequencing, but it’s good enough for most practical uses.

Nearly all of whatever you claim happens to be supprisingly accurate and it makes me ponder the reason why I hadn’t looked at this in this light previously. Your article really did turn the light on for me as far as this particular subject goes. But at this time there is 1 issue I am not too comfy with so while I attempt to reconcile that with the actual main idea of the point, allow me observe just what the rest of your readers have to say.Very well done.
