   Right. The classic case of people rationalizing their own enslavement. Women have more responsibility than men and are therefore the more mature (and beautiful) ones and the betters–but don’t you dare take off that sack, woman, or you’ll be X, Y, and Z’d!

   And to add to that, I’ve seen this a lot with respect to people rationalizing the brutality aimed at LGBT people. For instance, it’s OK to be gay as long as you don’t have sexual relations with anyone. There is no choice there. When you are in such a system, you are trapped.
