Pakistan bans science text book on pretext of it provoking ‘sexual desire’.
The government of Pakistan’s Punjab province has banned a science book for Grade VI students of a chain of elite schools for containing material that could provoke “sexual desire”.
The text book used by the Lahore Grammar School was banned after authorities received complaints from parents.
“We have banned the book after receiving complaints from parents,” provincial education minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad told PTI.
The science book had material that could provoke “sexual desire”, which could not be tolerated, he said.
“We will not allow anyone to teach our children with material which is against our social values and religious beliefs,” Ahmad said.
An inquiry was underway to ascertain why “objectionable” contents were included in the science book, he said.
The Punjab government also took cognizance of the same school’s decision to replace Islamic Studies, a compulsory subject, with Religious Studies in Grade VI.
“The new subject contains material which may mislead and confuse the minds of children,” Ahmad said.
“Article 25 of the Constitution of Pakistan is quite clear about the provision that no Pakistani citizen should be taught a religion other than his own religion – Islam,” Ahmad said.
The authorities of a country where hating and killing in the name of almost anything is a norm are afraid of people having sexual desire! It is always better to make love than to make war. Isn’t it?
If they don’t allow their children to learn anything which is against their social values and religious beliefs, they will not let them learn science and feminism because science is against religion and feminism is against patriarchal social values.
They prefer to teach their children religion. Then what happened? Most of the children become religious fundamentalists or religious terrorists.
Short-sighted politicians are the enemies of their countries.

This is really funny it seem to me that they just don’t trust any thing that is not Islamic.
All they think about is who is having sex, they don’t trust their own children.
They need to stop thinking that their religion is superior.
I am a muslim also but I don’t think like that.

Children below the age of 18 should not have sex education in classrooms in a school but it is permisable by their parents.
What is feminism ? feminism is about looking like a boy, not putting make up on, immitating men and making a song and dance about little things when there are bigger things to worry about in life.
Children should not be learning about sex in classrooms but rather be learning not to mix with boys in class or outiside without a mahrem
No One says
EXACTLY!
Girls should not be allowed to have their periods before the age of 18. They should however be required to wear make-up.

I’m pretty sure that feminism is about securing the same rights for women as for men – making sure that the law and society values men and women equally. Now one consequence of this is that, just as men do not face social opprobrium for, say, going about with short hair and no make-up, neither should women if that is what they want. And feminism is also about ensuring that women have as much of a role (or at least, as much right to be considered for a role) in decision-making and positions of authority as men do. That is precisely about taking on the bigger things to be worried about in life.
It seems like you might have got the wrong end of the stick there.
Also, children need good, fact-based sex education just as they need good fact-based education about everything else. Because one thing we know about human beings is that young people will have sex – no society, however draconian, has ever managed to stamp it out entirely. You might not like that fact, and you are certainly entitled to explain to your kids why they shouldn’t be having sex until they’re older, but you can never prevent all of the youngsters, all of the time from having sex. So it is better that those who do ignore the warnings at least know how to be safe, how to minimise the chances of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections before they start to experiment.
Societies that refuse to teach their children typically do not turn out generations of chaste youngsters; what they get are usually high rates of teen pregnancy and high rates of STIs. If that is what you want, then so be it, but don’t pretend that it isn’t what you’ll get.

All Islamic studies/institutions should recognise the most serious fact of the present day world, that islam terrorism terrifying all over the world, by many ways through several organisations accross the Globe. Some are banned organisations & some are not. But terrorism occouring in nearly every day life by the both kind of organisation in some way or other. Maximum time terror attackers are not found highly educated in Islamic studies, but they were well fearless trained by Islam fundamantalists who are mostly educated in Islamic studies. So, it is time to realise in this 21st centuary that there is definitely something or manything wrong with the particular religion or religious studies or beliefs in comparisn to other religion. So these can be avoided by banning of compulsory religious studies of any religion.

The name of that country should be fuckistan.

Wow, it is truly amazing. Perhaps the material is something to the effect that a girl should not allow herself to refuse sex. It is wildly funny that a society is now worried about the children, when they blow them up in the name of Allah.

It would be interesting if the visitors to this page [who are adults and can control their sexual desire 😉 ] can see what portion of the text that the Punjab province govt thinks could provoke sexual desires

Shamim, clearly you have absolutely no idea what feminism or sex education are, so you made some things up. Interesting that you made things up to disagree with.

It’s important for kids to get accurate sex education at home since we obviously cannot trust parents not to teach bullshit; we’re still fighting this battle in the states.
The other issue is that understanding sexuality is kind of necessary for understanding history, literature, psychology, sociology, economics, biology… you can’t take sex out of education without leaving a gaping hole of ignorance that will have repercussions.
