Phonewalking addiction

Ever since the federal government started requiring universities to make publicly available knowledge about any incidents of crime that take place on or near their campuses, we get email notification of any incidents that occur. Initially it was somewhat jarring to get them, since they shattered the illusion that we lived in a crime-free bubble but it is a good thing if it encourages people to be more aware of their surroundings and take precautions to avoid becoming the victims of crime.

Stealing grass

No, not marijuana, real grass.

Someone in England who wanted to put down a new lawn decided that the easiest and cheapest way to do so was, with a friend, to roll up strips of someone else’s new lawn when the owner was not there and take them away. They were caught on video but police have not been able to identify the pair as yet. What I don’t understand is why the neighbor who observed this and filmed it did not confront the thieves or even yell out from their upstairs window. Maybe they called the police but they did not come in time.

Dogs and levitating wieners

A magician does a trick where there seems to be a wiener floating in front of dogs’ faces. What surprises me is the reaction of two of the dogs. While most try to eat it, as I would expect them to, these two shy away from it in seeming fear. It is as if they realize that the laws of nature are being violated in some way and that hence something is seriously wrong and alarming.
