What, me worry?

Correspondent Allana Harkin from the show Full Frontal tries to persuade the highly religious inhabitants of Tangier Island in Virginia that the slow disappearance of their island is due to rising sea levels caused by climate change and not erosion as they assert.

chigau, does it matter? Biblically speaking, everything is caused by God anyway, and obviously the more you piss him off the worse things get. Got to appease God to fix climate/erosion effects, or whatever.

Lofty is right -- Gays ARE doing all kinds of gay stuff. The problem is that the residents of Tangier Island aren’t doing enough to make life miserable for those people, so God is punishing them with the erosion. I believe erosion is the Eleventh Plague, but my Bible knowledge is a bit rusty.

I don’t know that they’ll ever publicly admit they’re wrong or they changed their minds but I think there was one encouraging bit in there.specifically the part where Allana asks what if climate scientists are doing their god’s work, what then? I was just as amused by their reaction as I’m sure many of you were, but if this were the worst we had to deal with… that would be kind of encouraging.

To put it another way, I’ll take thousands of people like this, stubbornly wrongheaded but at least trying to be honest with themselves over one Senator Snowball any day of the week. Because if they’re still thinking about an issue, I think they’ll begin to hedge their bets on it as time goes on. Some may even change their minds but I wouldn’t bet on a lot of them doing so. Overall this isn’t enough to halt climage change but it’s a lot better than nothing.
