Some people are really awful

The US is holding a large number of undocumented immigrant children in various locations around the country. In order to cope with their needs, the Department of Homeland Security has issued a call for bids to supply 42,000 pairs of underwear to them. One anti-immigrant group known as the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) has started “Underwear for Illegals” and called on its followers to send in dirty underwear instead.

In a message to his followers, the president William Gheen says:

“Instead of using our tax money to buy illegals 42,000 pairs of new underwear, we would like to send the illegals and DC politicians a message by mailing them our used underwear, and some of our pairs are in really bad shape due to the bad economy and all of the jobs illegal immigrants are taking from Americans.”

I will never understand what it is that makes people do such mean and petty things.

I’m giving them points for the creative pettiness of the gesture.
That said the jobs those illegals take are the ones Americans don’t want to do for the price offered for the labor.
Same thing here in the Netherlands. The xenophobes rail against former eastern bloc countries getting into the EU since they’ll steal jobs here while the people offering the jobs say that they don’t even bother asking for Dutch workers anymore since those will walk of the job on average 1 day after doing it.
Oh and in both cases offering higher wages will result in bankruptcy because the profit margin on the work is razor thin and usually an increase in price for the product offered is not possible. Either because others will keep using the lower wage labor or because the buyer will just not buy at a higher price point.

I hope they fail to properly label them as biohazards and end up in federal prison. Which is not really what I think what happens when you mail possibly prohibited, unmarked biohazards and are caught, but a girl can dream.

New rule: If you publicly advocate maliciously spamming homeless immigrant children with your dirty underwear, we immediately add you to the sex offender registry, revoke your citizenship, and gift it to a randomly-chosen 13 year old from Honduras. Then we deport you to…um, Surtsey.
