Very inviting.
I’d knock on that door begging for candy.

It’s very festive, but I agree it needs more spiders.
Putting up Halloween decorations was a good way to enjoy the lovely summer weather we are having this weekend.

I’m as much an atheist as anybody but I celebrate Reformation festival on 31st December because of Bach. i wonder whether Catholics go round dressed as Martin Luther on that day?

Today I started getting ready for Hallowe’en
Today I was getting ready to get arrested by ICE.
They are in my area kidnapping people right now.
This is happening everywhere as part of the Trump regime’s efforts to suppress the vote for the mid terms.
No one has been killed but some people have been seriously injured.
I’m part of a rapid mobilization group to monitor and record ICE activity.
So far, no one has called us.
(This actually happened yesterday.
Because of people like us, ICE has changed tactics and now is doing hit and run raids.
By the time we knew what was happening, it was over and they were gone.)
I’m relieved but also, I hate the time we are living in.
I have long thought that Halloween is better than Christmas, because it’s full of contradictions and reversals of normal society. Instead of deferring to adults, children go around demanding candy from them. To express our unique personalities, we pretend to be someone else. And to show our holiday cheer, we make our houses look gross. Christmas is for celebrating the things we’re already meant to like: presents, family, charity, pretty lights, Little Baby Jesus. I appreciate the chance to celebrate the weird and upsetting instead.
O.K. PZ those ARE great spiders at the front door. But, as my cousin says: “I’m still waitin’ for an army of honkin’ huge spiders with freakin’ laser beam eyes that will fry all the maga cultists”
