He was 80, just like Dolly. Also like our president. They say death comes in threes — we need this pattern to continue until it hits someone who deserves it.

I have watched many videos of Dolly singing and enjoyed them. Rocky Horror was one of my favs. I saw about 5 minutes of The Apprentice long ago as well as a clip from Home Alone. Hated both of them, and Dumpster was awful.

There was a period of about two months back in my Postgraduate days when I had Tim Curry’s songs from Rocky Horror on loop in the background, because I was playing Frank’n’Furter in a student production of the show. He made it look much easier than it actually is.

@7: I had no idea Three Men in a Boat had been filmed. I got introduced to it backwards: I started with Connie Willis’ excellent To Say Nothing of the Dog, then discovered the equally enjoyable original novel. I didn’t think the sequel was up to the same standard.
Funnily enough I remember Dolly Parton in 9 to 5 and Tim Curry as the doctor on the only Russian submarine commanded by a Lithuanian captain with a Scottish accent in The Hunt For Red October. And for some reason Curry’s performance reminded me of Tony Blair of all people.

As far as the “death in 3’s” superstition, I think they should at least have something in common besides age, cause of death, or being dead, to “count.” Parton, Curry and Cullen were all entertainment figures. The king of Norway and Mladic are/were both political figures/rulers, so we’re still waiting on that group’s 3rd. Hundreds or thousands dead in natural disasters is so far beyond “3” it breaks the superstition and belongs in a class of its own.
