Tonight was movie night

I’m beginning my weekly duties as a volunteer projectionist at the Morris theater, which I will try to do once a week. It was not a great experience — it involves a lot of standing and some walking around, and my knee is not quite ready for it. After two hours, I was getting some unpleasant spasms, and was seriously concerned that it might buckle under me, so I had to go home early (no worries, there were 3 of us training or in training.)

It’s all good exercise, though, so maybe in another week or two I’ll be a bit more robust. I think next time I’ll wear a knee brace.

This is the time to come to Morris to watch Masters of the Universe or Mortal Kombat under my supervision. Sorry, we don’t have something better. We do have Disclosure Day starting this weekend, and we have Kung Fu Panda as a free matinee. We also have the classic Jurassic Park on the 22nd, as part of a special deal with the Met Lounge if you think you’ll need beer to survive it.

I’ve actually heard that Master’s of the Universe is pretty good, certainly better than you may expect based around the fact it is a movie based on a show based on a toy line :P .
As for Mortal Kombat, I like Karl Urban well enough and the character he plays may be entertaining, but I am not enough of a fan of the games to have liked the first movie (or even the cheesier 90’s film), so, yeah, sorry you have to suffer that one?

Get yourself one of those walking stick / shooting stools.
Please let us know about “Disclosure Day”. I read the plot description on the-pfft-of-all-knowledge and I think I’d rather watch paint dry.

    Every job has perks.

A projectionist’s clearly includes ‘free’ viewing.

(Technically, one get paid to view movies, so there’s that)

Yeah, it’s a new reboot of the Mortal Kombat film series.

And I’ve heard Masters of the Universe isn’t bad (though definitely not the kind of film PZ likes), aside from having the odeous and accused sex pest Jared Leto in it.

You could do a Tyler Durden and splice spider pics into the movies you show.

You should inflict the original Phantasm on moviegoers, maybe in October.

How about “The Amazing Digital Circus”? First eight episodes are on YouTube then see the finale in the theater. I think you’d like it. It’s a character study done in the style of 90’s CGI (bright colors, geometric shapes, trippy visuals). No spoilers, but I think it’s something you’d enjoy.

Phantasm had that ridicilous flying orb as a weapon, that special effect was so awful that it ruined the horror.
    .
Try Diabolic, where the horror is related to odd mormon rituals that backfire.
Japanese horror films are weird in a good way, Uzumaki has good reviews.
