How are you holding up, Oregonians?

As a former resident of Oregon, and a frequent visitor to the lovely city of Portland, I was dismayed to learn that it is now war ravaged, and that our president is declaring Full Force war against the city.

At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, | am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists. | am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

War correspondents have been dispatched to the battle zone, reporting on the horror of the ongoing battles.

Earlier Saturday, there was no sign of any federal presence downtown, where people jogged along the Willamette River, relaxed by a riverside fountain or rode bikes on a sunny fall day.

“Where’s the emergency?” asked resident Allen Schmertzler, 72, who said he was “disgusted” by the president’s decision.

Another, John McNeur, 74, called Trump’s statement “ridiculous.” He pointed out that he was taking “a leisurely stroll” along the river on a peaceful, sunny day.

“This place is not a city that’s out of control,” he said. “It’s just a beautiful place.”

That sounds like the Portland I remember. Where are the Antifa sieges taking place? I remember a very nice donut shop near the OHSU school of medicine, I hope it isn’t being shelled or bombed. We used to take the kids to OMSI, are you able to get past the barricades to the museum any more?

This deployment of the Oregon National Guard is likely illegal.
Trump already did that in Los Angeles and that has been ruled illegal.

Judge rules against National Guard in LA, and Trump vows to send them to Chicago
SEPTEMBER 2, 20258:22 PM ET edited for length

Trump deployed some 4,000 guard troops to Los Angeles in June to confront protesters against ICE operations in the city. Only about 300 are still on duty there.

Earlier Tuesday, a federal judge in San Francisco ruled for the second time that Trump’s deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles violated the law, stating the guard performed law enforcement duties that are prohibited for the military.

Today’s ruling — even if it holds up on appeal — would not impact the use of the guard in other places because it was based on the specific circumstances of what kind of duties the guard has performed in Los Angeles and whether it was overstepping its powers over civilians.

This deployment likely violates two laws.

.1. The president can’t call up state National Guards unless it is an emergency.

.2. It also violates the Posse Comitatus law which states US military forces can’t be used for civilian law enforcement.
That is what the ruling above is all about. It is a narrowly argued ruling.

The National Guard call up to Los Angeles was also more or less useless and pointless.

.1. Most of them never left their bases. They had nothing to do and nowhere to go.
The protests in Los Angeles were small and limited to a small area around a few Federal buildings.
Which were protected by the LA police who are experienced in beating up people and shooting protesters with rubber bullets, pepper balls, and tear gas.

BTW, there were protests at the Federal building but they were peaceful. They didn’t turn violent until the LA police showed up with their clubs, tear gas, and rubber bullets and started attacking the crowd.
    They are very predictable.

.2. The National Guard troops that did show up in LA had nothing to do. They detained one guy who wasn’t even a protester but someone late for an appointment at the VA.

It will be the same in Portland. Hopefully.

The Trump/GOP regime really seriously wants to do a Kent State Squared.
They want to arrange things so the soldiers shoot into a crowd somewhere and leave a few dozen dead bodies on the pavement.
Because nothing shows your power like killing a lot of people.
It is an intimidation tactic as well.

Personally, I’m a little more concerned about Trump’s efforts to have atheists declared terrorists, myself.

This is just fascist theater. Look at DC. The National Guard was reduced to picking up trash and viewing the monuments.

But Trump seems to have a particular animus against Portland. I’ve never been there. Perhaps I should visit before the barbed wire goes up and Trump’s secret police start smoking out all those Antifa rats and vermin.

There were a bunch of brown shirt wannabes deployed to the Mag Mile in Chicago this weekend. The highlight of the day came when a Hispanic Grub Hub guy on a bicycle rode by trying to make a delivery and a half dozen fat-assed goons tried to catch him. The kid got away unscathed and the loser brigade stood around gasping for breath after completing a 10 second sprint. The only thing missing was a sound track playing “Yakety Sax”.

Just saw a Facebook post from an old friend who lives in Portland. Apparently everything was lovely yesterday, but last night the helicopters came in and today there’s trouble around the building that ICE operates out of.

We were in Portland last week. Other than the highways are confusing because so many bridges over the Willamette River… it was lovely. The funky hotel was full of soccer fans, and for breakfast I was given a berry bowl to stir in with my oatmeal (even though it was not on the menu). We went to a wine tasting where we got to watch them extracting the juice from the grapes.

For dinner we managed a parking space two blocks from the restaurant right next to the Burnside Bridge as the vendors were packing up after the Saturday Market. The restaurant was very good keeping all cilantro away from me. And after dinner we had a lovely walk along the river.

On the way out I got to shop the Pendleton warehouse store. Which was a bit tricky getting to because of its highway (which is like Highway 99 here in Seattle). It would be useful to jam any National Guard GPS so that they would get lost on the wrong side of the river, but not enough to cross the Columbia River.

All those troops are going to get PTSD flashback every time they see a lumberjack serving coffee, or a beer served in an old jam jar. Somewhere off in the distance, they can hear Fortunate Son playing.

People are pretty certain he’s being shown TV footage of the protests in 2020 over George Floyd’s murder, (which were all in like a 2-block area) and he thinks it’s going on now.

The cheese hasn’t only slipped off his cracker, it fell on the floor, got stuck in the treads of someone’s hiking boot and was transported outdoors where it was tastedm, and rejected by several different rats and a couple of pigeons, and is just sitting there slowy moldering.

I live in Portland and there are typically a couple dozen people trolling the fascists at the ICE facility, and a network of folks keeping track of ICE activity to warn people. The only violence has be perpetrated by ICE agents who occasionally assault the brave souls mocking them.

That makes sense and seems likely.

Trump is senile, and he is clearly acting out his delusions and fantasies in our reality.

He is also at the stage where he is easily manipulated by shiny objects, huge amounts of easy money, and false information from his “staff”.
This makes him a meat puppet and the puppet masters are his supposed employees who are operating the strings. The Portland invasion is probably Stephen Miller’s idea.

Someone needs to write a ‘history from the future’ about the Trump administration/reign, very much from the MAGA idolatrous perspective – including a scene in which Trump crowns himself Emperor of America before a cheering crowd of ten million people, and watched by cheering crowds on video world wide. Make sure it is a large print book and with simple sentences. I expect hook, line, and sinker.
