I’d begun to forget that Jordan Peterson exists — does anyone still find him credible? — when potholer54 comes out with a new video demonstrating that he’s a pretentious fool who doesn’t understand basic science, and that he contradicts himself all the time.
It’s amazing how nonsical Peterson is and has always been.
Yeah, me too.
This is one of the few good things that have happened in 2025.
No.
No one who bothers to think anyway.
Peterson was a hate monger whose whole message was that girls and women are icky and inferior.
He never bothered to back that claim up with data because he is a fake scholar.
It wouldn’t convince anyone who already didn’t want to believe that.
All I know about Peterson is what I read in blogs like this one. But I did recently stumble across a YT video where he was debating some young guy about something. I didn’t watch it for very long, but what impressed me was how quickly he resorts to personal insults. He’s arrogant. He speaks with the authority of someone who believes he’s the ultimate arbiter of logic and reason. I find his persona repellent.
This Greatest Hits list is why I and most others have nothing but contempt for Peterson.
Old post.
Forget that Enforced Monogamy Red Herring.
Sure it is disgusting and cuckoo.
It’s also just one of many Peterson’s misogynistic comments.
Just going to Xpost from a Pharyngula thread.
Jordan Peterson is a sick puppy!!! No matter how horrible a human being you think he is, the reality if far worse.

The poster below on quora has some Peterson quotes. I normally don’t like to copy other people’s comments but in this case it’s important enough that I will with attribution. The sources are at the original article reached by the link.
My replies are in bold.

Because he says things like:
..women have a subconscious wish for brutal male domination>/i>
This is bullcrap. He doesn’t know this.
..that it’s unfortunate that men can’t control women who say crazy things because they aren’t allowed to hit them
How about crazy men like Peterson. We aren’t allowed to hit them either.
Peterson admires violence and is frustrated that he can’t be violent towards women.
Guy is a sick puppy.
..young women are outraged because they don’t have a baby to suckle
Gibberish. He doesn’t know this. It’s just a misogynistic insult.
..if a woman doesn’t want to have kids, there’s something wrong with her
Gibberish. It’s an opinion or an assertion without proof. It’s also wrong.
It’s a sick puppy thing again.
..and says “The idea that women were oppressed throughout history is an appalling theory.” – despite women lacking basic human rights and legally being owned by men throughout history
The oppresion was/is blatantly true and obvious.
..says stuff like “Men cannot oppose pathological women because chivalry demands they keep their most potent weapons sheathed” on twitter
That violence thing again. I would be very surprised if Peterson doesn’t have a history of violence against women, children, and pets. Anything smaller and weaker than himself.
There is lots more. Pages and pages of sick garbage like this.
No matter how ugly and vicious Peterson seems, the reality is going to be far worse.

SO MANY. Starting with “the idea that women were oppressed throughout history is an appalling theory,” and moving on to calling women who wear makeup and heels at work and don’t want to be sexually harassed “hypocrites.” You know, because of course the only reason women wear makeup is “because boners” and also there is no social pressure at all to wear make-up in order to look “professional.” Peterson is very mad about feminism, in general, and is a very big fan of “traditional gender roles,” without ever coming right out and saying that explicitly.
In the Vice interview linked above, he also says he’s not sure that men and women will ever be able to work together without sexual harassment being a problem. Which is quite strange because he’s so very into empowering young men to take “responsibility” for their lives, you would think he could also convince them that maybe playing grab-ass with their co-workers is a poor idea.
He has also decided that the whole reason we are so “outraged” these days is because we actually secretly desire not equality, but babies.
“Is it possible that young women are so outraged because they are craving infant contact in a society that makes that very difficult?”
More sick puppy misogynistic bullcrap from Peterson.
Peterson is also a control freak. He thinks he is entitled to control and police women.
And when they say NO he goes ballistic.
Peterson …”and moving on to calling women who wear makeup and heels at work and don’t want to be sexually harassed “hypocrites.””
Guy wants to police women’s bodies, women’s lives, and women’s dress.
Hey Peterson!!! It’s none of your damn business what a woman wears, her makeup or none, or her shoes. Or how she lives her life. FUCK OFF CREEP!!!
To put it another way, I don’t give a rat’s ass if Jordan Peterson wears a dress and high heels or combat boots and a camo T shirt. None of my business and no interest whatsoever.

I realize what I posted is tl;dr for many. The summary.
Jordan Peterson is a conperson reflecting hate and bigotry to his fanboys for big money.
He is a mentally sick puppy.
He hasn’t had an original thought in his entire life.
Misogyny and racism aren’t in the least bit new.
All you need to know about Jordan Peterson.
nonsical is a great word!
@2 John Watts: That sounds like the “Surrounded” series, in which he “debated” atheists. Whenever he was backed into a corner, he declared his interlocutor an “ass,” unworthy of hearing his wisdom.
The “Surrounded” series, like all debates, is terribly stupid, pitting a celebrity against 20 college students. I’m embarrassed for Mehdi Hassan for taking part in it.
IIRC JP used to be a practicing psychologist, but either got fired or gave it up because that involved listening to other people, which was never what JP wanted to do. I’ve heard he talks a lot about Jungian this or that, which seems to involve retelling ancient stories and pretending they can be used to represent/understand a present-day patient’s stories. Which does kinda track with someone who likes telling other people what they feel, want or need.
I also heard of at least one instance where JP explicitly questioned the credibility of one of his own patients on a public forum. He didn’t mention her name, he just said she had claimed she’d been raped and he still didn’t know whether to believe her or not.
PS: I wonder what happened to all those Peterson-fanboy-trolls who used to pop up at any mention of JP and say ridiculous shit like “You’re all wrong about Jordan Peterson, ask me anything, I’m here to help” and “Peterson’s teachings are descriptive, not prescriptive!” Does anyone who’s mentioned JP in the last five years or so hear from them anymore?
The JP trolls used to always claim that any of his misogynistic or hate filled quotes were…”taken out of context”.
They never said what that context was though or just why they were out of context.
Because they weren’t taken out of context.
Peterson is a routine hate merchant, reflecting and selling people’s hate back to them.
The psychologist JBP has understood one thing: Saying something controversial gives you attention. And boy does this strategy work. It’s made him a wealthy (if forgettable) man.
@3 raven:
Broken link. I found a Riley Miller here.
Quora – Why is Jordan Peterson seen as misogynistic?
Riley pasted that exact same answer under many different OPs. I picked one starting with “why-i” 7 yrs ago. Except this Riley has 1.3k answers and 4m views. So maybe not the one you meant.
For some reason, Facebook keeps throwing Jordan Peterson videos at me. I don’t understand why. I never watch them, I always report them for disinformation, block the page it was posted on, and go on.
“I never watch them, I always report them for disinformation, block the page it was posted on, and go on.”
In short, you interact with FB.
You respond to them.
That means that advertisers (you know, 1/3rd of your FB screen) know you see their ads.

Get that?
The $reason$ is not obscure, rietpluim.
@Raging Bee
That bit is rather complicated, and JP actively made it more complicated.
So, yes, he was a practising psychologist, and taught at the University of Toronto as well. The teaching job had been going badly once he started complaining about C-16 (the bill to amend the Canadian Human Rights Act to add gender identity as a protected class for discrimination laws) and was very openly complaining about being forced to use the ‘wrong’ pronouns for people and how it was an infringement on his free speech. (The fact that students had been complaining about him for a bit shows that not only was he deliberately mis-gendering students, he had been for a while and was just getting worse about it.) Eventually the U of T decided this looked bad on them and reduced his teaching load, pushing him into ’emeritus’ status.
That was fine with Peterson, because by then he was already getting more money and attention being an anti-trans and pro-manliness right-wing crank than from the University anyway. It would be a few years before he became enough of an international loudmouth that they felt that even letting him have emeritus status was an embarrassment. (Actively getting rid of a professor is difficult by design.)
He hadn’t really been all that active of a practising psychiatrist for years even before much of this started; he seemed to prefer lecturing over practising psychiatry anyway. He was still a licensed psychiatrist for several years, though; that started to end because he’d not only been an international loudmouth enough to bring the practice into disrepute, he was actively slagging other psychiatrists for being ‘woke’ and the like, and insulting people he used to have as patients. He was basically given an ultimatum about needing to apologize and complete human rights training… and, of course, being who he was he worked that into his ‘help help I’m being oppressed’ routine, dragged the process out as long as possible, but continued refusing to actually do the training. He eventually got struck off the rolls for his non-compliance, which led to another round of how his free speech was being suppressed because he wasn’t allowed to say what he thought and still have those professional initials after his name.
(I live in Toronto and had to help talk a friend of mine out of turning into a Peterson fanboy. I have sadly had a front-row seat to a good chunk of this.)
jenorafeuer @12: I remember Peterson from before the pronoun debacle. For some reason, TVOntario aired some of his lectures. Even then, he came across as a pompous, self-important windbag with little more to say than how smart he was.
The last time I saw him on TVO was after the pronoun stuff. He was ‘debating’ two transgender folk. They basically tore him apart, calmly and coolly, and he quickly descended into petulant 10-year-old boy mode (as is his wont). What a wanker.
Rob Grigjanis:
Doesn’t surprise me. Stuff like this rarely comes out of nowhere.
And, frankly, it’s unlikely he would have made a big public deal about complaining about how the law would suppress his free speech if he hadn’t already been actively mis-gendering students and had to deal with complaints about it. So I fully expect he had already been called out on being an anti-trans bigot internally and just doubled down even before he went public with it.
(I was born in B.C. originally, and moved east later after University, so I did not get the true experience of early TVO.)
