If you can get The Brokenwood Mysteries, you might like Season 3, Episode 1 that I watched last night. There is a pretty little spider featured prominently (and an ugly giant spider, too). It’s a funny watch even with the murder.

I Googled tarantula anatomy …
trying to figure out where their eyes are. Just two, barely visible in your photo?
Trigger Warning for PZ: Off-camera violence against a little cutie who just wanted a nice cuddle with Sean Connery.
(By the way, Sean was such a scaredy-cat in the scene of him with the spider circa 45 seconds it’s actually crawling on a pane of glass – you can see him move under it as he shifts about :-)

Wow, that is one helluva picture! Did you get a new camera?
I see the wormy thing it is munching on. Replace that with a dangling human body and you have nightmare or maybe a good scary movie.
Depends on which human body.
I recall the Patrician of Ank-Morpork on Discworld had -among other things- a spider tank.
I’ll bet PZ has the movie poster for Eight Legged Freaks in his lab!

That’s the spider you show in movies when you want a really scary spider.
