We’re in the Spider-Verse now

We’re in summer research training mode. Mary & I took one of our students to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse so that she could learn what the life of an arachnologist is like.

It was a little more kinetic and colorful than I expected. But good! These spider-verse movies are spectacular and intense.

To bring us back down to earth, this morning we’re headed out to Glacial Lakes State Park for some real spidering, which is a little more sedate.

So, as an arachnologist, did you help Peter Parker pick a peck of pickled peppers?

OT, just to fuck everyone’s day up, Florida man locked up after argument with neighbor denied his anti-rejection medication died from rejection.
Waited 12 years to get a heart transplant, only to be murdered by the state over $503 bail.
He repeatedly asked for his anti-rejection medication, the jail nurse noting it as an urgent matter as well.
Excuse me while I go and puke.

Botany~wise, do you know your local native plants vs the introduced weeds here much & are there volunteer or professional groups that do tackle those here PZ please?

wzrd1 and StevoR commented about medical murder. I, too, am disgusted (trying not to vomit) by the murderous intent and deficiencies of of ‘health care’, law enforcement. To top it all off, this happened in DeathSantis’ Floriduh!
I commented similarly on PZ’s ‘how to make a science movie’:
Off Current Topic, but important as a symptom of a terrible disease. Minn is HQ, I know how PZ likes Minn. Progress and this is not meant as a jab at him or Minn.:

This Nonprofit Health System Cuts Off Patients With Medical Debt. Many hospitals in the United States use aggressive tactics to collect medical debt. They flood local courts with collections lawsuits. They garnish patients’ wages. They seize their tax refunds.

O.K. PZ, here is your new spiderverse assignment: create a horde of intelligent killer spiders and direct them to inject lethal venom into all the insurance industry CEOS. health care corporation CEOs, anti-vaxxers and anti-science xtian terrorists! You are welcome to add to that list as you see fit.

Don’t forget the Sacklers. They were just granted immunuty after a slap-on-the-wrist fine.

Thanks, birgerjohansson, they should definitely be added. And so should mofo Manchin and his murderous daughter Heather Bresch who endangered lives by increasing the price of Epi-pens 500% while giving executives bonuses in 2021.
