Naomi Wolf thinks my penis is going to rot and fall off. Should I be concerned?

It’s looking diseased.

I hadn’t heard of the “Daily Clout” before, it’s just another far right histrionic pseudo-journalistic platform for particularly ignorant pundits. This morning I learned that they’re claiming the COVID vaccine will make your penis rot and fall off. I’ve had four shots, I guess I need to worry.

Or not worry. This woman is reading through Pfizer’s internal documentation of their trials, and jumping on every chance occurrence as a causal indictment of the treatment. One person got an epithelial cancer, another had a blood clot, etc., etc., etc. — but that’s to be expected in an large sample of the population in a clinical trial. Some of the participants might have died in a car accident, but you don’t leap to the assumption that the vaccine caused the accident. You have to compare the frequency in the test group to the frequency in the general population.

Then I learn the “Daily Clout” was founded by Naomi Wolf. OK. I’m done. My penis is relieved.

    One of the episodes of God Awful Movies analysed the claims made in a anti-vaxxer “documentary “.

    As every adverse health incidence of a vaccine user was recorded during the trials and furthermore to some degree during the general vaccine rollout – including car accidents- there were plenty of unrelated adverse health events dishonest readers might claim were caused by the vaccines.
    If a pregnant woman died in an unrelated accident the loss of the fetus would technically be a miscarriage. So those events were shoehorned into the narrative of vaccines causing miscarriages.

    But to understand the dishonesty you need to invest time in understanding how the clinical trials were done and how the data was gathered and processed- not sonething that can be learned by way of social media.

    I recommend the GAM episodes covering Vaxxed, Vaxxed 2 and Plandemic.

    My cousin was part of the Phase 3 trial for the MMR vaccine in the early 70s. During that period, she was over at our place and fell out of a tree and broke her arm. When her mom took her to the hospital, she told the doc that my cousin was in that trial and they logged the broken arm as an “adverse event”, as they were required to do. But nobody took seriously the idea that the vaccine was what had caused my cousin to fall out of the tree and break her arm. Yet this is apparently the kind of nonsense that the anti-vax crowd is peddling now.

    If you are immunocompatible and you lose your junk, you can graft on mine but I want a hundred grand for it.

Comparisons to the general population are susceptible to error (in either direction) when the study enrolls subjects who by chance are different, say sicker or healthier. Much better to have a concurrent placebo group, with all subjects drawn from the same enrollment pool, and randomized to treatment. If the study is large enough, the laws of probability will lead to balancing risk factors between the groups. Better still to keep the study team and the subject blinded to assignment until the end of the study. Both of the mRNA vaccines were studied in double-blind randomized placebo controlled trials of approximately 40,000 subjects each.

    Since I got my first Covid vaccine (though the VA (a government agency (now THAT’S suspicious, right?))) I have had many close calls as the drivers of other vehicles tried their best to kill me deader than dead. Just yesterday, a postal van pulled off the shoulder into my lane and I hit them and died (well, actually, my forward collision avoidance system, coupled with anti-lock brakes, saved me (from a GOVERNMENT VEHICLE (now THAT’S suspicious, right?)). I have had almost one near miss PEr YeAr! since I got my Covid vaccine. Now, some would claim that, living in an urban area, and regularly driving to Florida or Maine to visit relatives, that this sounds about right.

    But before my vaccine, I never had an accident (well, one in 1985, one in 1987, one in 1993) and (more imporanter) never had an accident that even came close to killing me (no, falling off the cliff into a river in 2017, breaking my back in three places, and almost drowning (if I had landed just a little differently . . . .) doesn’t count because, at the time, I was working for a government agency (wait, didn’t I just, a little up there, claim “(now THAT’S suspicious, right?)” about both the VA and the USPS? Well, ignore that. NOt germane to this rant) so the fall doesn’t count because it happened in the spring!)

    Not only that, I have had FOUR !!1! Covid shots (and have had Covid twice (but that is immaterial)) and now have multiple life-threatening conditions: Acute Reactive Lung Disorder (which used to be bronchitis back before the government (now THAT’S suspicious, right?) got involved ) my doctor thinks it is a result of my last bout of Covid, but I’m sure the government is involved somehow)), am overweight, and am an older man. None of these things happened to me before the injections (okay, I did have ALRD about 20 years ago and I have been overweight for about 25 years (but that happened after I joined a government agency (now THAT’S suspicious, right?)).

    So when do I get to tell my story on a conspiracyistic talk show and get my piece of the pie and a little moolah?

    This is a true story. One of my elderly, demented patients living in a nursing home got sick on the day her first vaccination was due and had to go to hospital. She was stabilised and sent home a few days later, only to die suddenly (but not unexpectedly) about a week later. Now I know full well that if she had got sick one day later she would have had her scheduled vaccine and the antivaxx liars would insist that her last illness and death were caused by the immunisation.

    It reminds me of my favourite story of unwarranted fears about a safe public health measure. From QuackWatch:

    Whereas of course, the SARS Cov2 virus is actually known to infect penile tissues, and via its deleterious effects on blood vessels cause among other things, erectile dysfunction and possibly infertility. As a rule of thumb, anything the cookers ascribe to vaccination, can be explained by infection with SARS Cov2.
